Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

A while back the was a discussion about having a Fab Coffee Morning for McMillan. (I may still have been a lurker then and I can't find the thread.)

It's on 28th September.

Anyone up for this?

Probably virtual. It means you'll have to eat the cake you bring. Although I suppose if some people are local to each other there could be pods that get together and all join in virtually.

well if you are going to do something like this... then the canada chatroom would be perfect for this type of thing....

just have to decide on whether you want to do a coffee morning or a coffee evening... and the proceeds go to mcmillan...

How would you raise the money - serious question. Good idea I think if that were possible?

It would have to be on trust if virtual. A contribution we all agree to each make to McMillan for chatting together. There is a kit but it only works if you're with other people.

Sounds like a good idea - I have always supported the McMillan coffee mornings.

think we could all donate via the 'virgin money giving' if someone would want the responsibility. I think it also accepts donations via paypal so no bank details have to be given out.

I have made a donation and invite those that like cake to join me at 11am on Friday morning for a slice of something yummy. I might make a carrot cake or go to Waitrose and get some cupcakes.

From the MacMillan Website

We are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, we also help carers, families and communities. We guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. We fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. But we give so much more than medical help.

I've had dealings with them on a number of occassions and they truly are angels

Cake with lime and cream cheese frosting is ready. I don't drink tea or coffee but I'll make a pot of each just for today.

For those I have lost this year and those fighting on... I eat cake

They were fantastic with the way they looked after my mum and in the aftercare they have to the family.. I give them 10 pounds a month out of my wages...

Can't speak highly enough of them and wish I could help at the coffee morning

I'll have a slice of cake in honour of your mother then. All the best.

... And it is threads like these that I love to show to those vocal people who proclaim it is " just a sex site!"

The site is as much or as little as people make of it.... And supporting great causes like McMillan will fill me with pride
