Both. I loved almost everything in the eighties; it was the best decade in music to be a teenager.

Duran Duran easily take it. Never stopped making music, never stopped touring. About to release a new album. Check out 'Anniversary' released last week simply awesome. And for Bowie fans check out their cover of Five years from earlier this year, haunting.

Duran Duran, but Spandau Ballet are still Gold, and they always believe in your soul.

(Sorry, couldn’t resist )

Spandau. I found their music (and much of the other early 80's pop and New Romantics) so godawfully unlistenable that it made me seek out other music I ended up loving. I joined a band and toured Europe and the US and later saw the rest of the world as a roadie. It also bought me a house too. So I've always felt I owe SB a weird 'debt' in a way as they... sort of... inspired me.

PS - never liked Duran much either but I always acknowledged they wrote some good songs.

I remember the hype in 1980’s

Overall Duran Duran but ask me the seminal track of the new wave era was,To Cut a long story short… that intro…

Duran Duran, obviously Seven and the ragged Tiger is a great album, especially the track seventh stranger.

However the younger me did look a bit like Steve Norman (sax player) a bit, so I got some interest from the ladies due to him.

Duran Duran, I still listen to them on a daily basis. Tony Hadley had a voice like a fog horn. Both bands transcended from New romantics to yuppie chic seamlessly.
