There’s an argument that we are causing cancer (plastics, chemicals, modern lifestyles), and given that God supports our free will he has to allow it.

But God created the world and he knows everything that will happen before it happens. I can't help but ask why he needed to create such a world in the first place. I mean would you make something that you knew you would end up loving so much you'd need at some point in the future to have a son and watch him be tortured to death to save your creation? So then what is the answer to why God did this? Oh yes, to show his glory. God allowed his son to die yo save the earth he created for his own glory.

Many Christians believe in free will"

And? You mean that God wanted his creation to have the free will to choose to give him glory even though he knew (he's omnipotent remember) that the direct result would be him having to sacrifice his own son.

I've had this argument many times, if god stumbled across a world already created and allowed his son to die to save all others, that is an impressive act of love from them both. But he didn't. He chose to create a world knowing this would be a requirement of saving it.

I understand all the arguments about free will and how if you stand on one leg and squint this can be used to exonerate God from any of the suffering "caused by human sin" but it doesn't exonerate him from choosing to create this mess on the first place. He has (apparently) existed for ever so why in the last 6000/200,000 years(delete as appropriate depending on whether you believe genesis 1-3 are literal times or not) did he suddenly need to create a race of sinful beings who had the capacity to choose to glorify him?

Humans have always had the free will to do good or to do evil, hence it can be said that the sacrifice of the son was not planned or orchestrated.

The world was never perfect in the first instance, this is made clear in book of genesis, hence why Adam and Eve were given Eden as a place to live.

God is an utterly ridiculous concept that is put forward as some answer to the formation of the universe.

We have reasonable science to give some explanation as to we are all on a recreational sex site but some want to follow various doctrines, idols, deities and ideology based on fuck all squared.

If those who want to believe in an invisible imaginary friend and spend time worshiping these fictional characters then crack on but dot cause mischief and mayhem to the rest of us. Religion in all its manifestations is mogadon for the masses espoused by charlatans and misfits who are in it for their own gain.

So I couldn’t give a rats septic arse if this god likes me.

Just saying!

God is peculiar. Being brought up by a Catholic mum I still think of a mighty bearded bloke lurking above the clouds with his big book, jotting down everything I and everyone else ever did. My mum also talked about Jesus and his philosophy of just being kind and loving.

I never understood the Holy Ghost or this thing called the Trinity.

According to my Christian wife and her friends you only get to Heaven if you simply give your devotion to the incarnation called Jesus, but each all being the same thing apparently?

Doesn’t matter what you did in life though. You could be a right git then one day go to to her church and you’d be saved. Evangelist or some such?

So if God was real it’s a case of which version?

Christian, Muslim, Evangelist, Catholic… because He’s either a big bully, a rosy cheek Shepard of love or one of three things depending on his mood!

I think a God would like me if they were real. All the religious books are manmade. With ridiculous rules made up by men with some good intentions, but mainly self serving. I think if there was a real God, that God would just judge you on your kindness, compassion and humaneness. All the other stuff is trivial.

Oooooooh good point!

I imagine the OP was referring to the Abrahamic God but it's open to interpretation.

Zeus would love me

That he would

I'd try to become Thor's drinking buddy.

I'd be Thor's sex sl*ve

Being his drinking buddy, I'm glad he seems the sharing type. "

Sharing is caring after all

If a "god" truly exists, then I hope that he/she has the intelligence to see past my numerous faults and realise that underneath it all, I'm a decent human being. I hope that goes for people too

Nah they wouldn’t like me but I’m cool with that as I can beat the devil at tiddlywinks and he owes me a comfortable afterlife

"Probably as I'm a pretty good human being, question is would I like God? "

That's a good question

Yes we are sure he would. We like to think he would see that we are lovely people with our hearts in the right place.

No. Principally because I would be first in the queue to question the existence of a delusion; that a so-called "God" has ever existed.

In psychiatric parlance, God is regarded as an idiosyncratic delusion in Schizotypal personality types; this deluded belief being a product of the individual's biochemistry.

"Would God like you?"

Well if I'm made in his image.....he would ....unless he hates himself
