Wisdom tooth

Bit of a random one considering this site, but has anyone had there wisdom tooth out if so did they have to go to a specialist or did the dentist do it straight away

Nah mate fuck that I had mine in covid hurting me no dentist would even take it out kmagine suffering 9 months pain

I know the feeling it's the worst pain known to anyone the reason I asked is because mine has broke the skin and is now pushing the mauler, and face has swollen

Had all 4 of mine removed under general anaesthetic. It was the two suppositories they gave me beforehand that were more of a shock .

How did you manage to get GA? Did you have to get referred to a hospital by your dentist? I really want to have mine out as it's impacted and I keep biting the inside of my cheek, but I'm too terrified to get it done

Some are professional at their work whilst others like a butcher I've experienced both and happy with the one I have now

Had mine removed at the age of 18 in hospital by a specialist. Preferred to be out of it, though I know a good few people who have had theirs out in the dentist's chair.

Not long, used salt water wash for a couple of weeks to keep wounds sterile, totally healed within a month.

It was quite a few years ago so cant remember the exact timescale.

Had one taken out in the dentist chair. Dentist kneeling on my chest and it bloody hurt, tooth fractured and came out in bits. Other three taken out in hospital under general I was not making that mistake again.

All 4 of mine were severely impacted and i kept getting gum infections all of the time.

Dentist was going to refer me for what would have been a 2 year wait on the NHS at the time. Luckily had it done via my private healthcare insurance within weeks.

It is horrid pain and you can understand why babies scream so much when teething.

Dentist referred me to the hospital and out it came. Just an injection to numb the pain and it was all fine.

Ah okay, I'm not getting gum infections but the teething pain is really bad. My dentist is private and I have dental insurance so I'll see if I can get it done under GA with them.

Dentist took all 4 of mine out after I had a valium jab. It was 30+ years ago so things may have changed. Hope you get it sorted as I remember the pain was a bitch x

I had four wisdom teeth removed years ago after one grew out in a funny angle, but as far as I can recall it was done at the dentist under local anaesthetic.

After the final one was pulled (I had to go in twice as they wouldn’t remove all of them at once) a lower molar was removed years later after being compromised due to the closest wisdom tooth putting too much pressure onto it and damaging it beyond repair. The molar caused more issues that the wisdom teeth combined.

I had an overnight stay at the DRI, they took all 4 out under general anaesthetic in 1982.

Just remember waking up with a mouthful of bandages and living on soup for about a week

Don't know what it's like now that we're in Covid times, but five years ago my dentist referred me for a day in hospital under a general anaesthetic to have two impacted wisdoms removed. She extracted one non-impacted one herself the following week.

I got the impression that if there was the slightest risk (i.e. impacted), it had to be a general anaesthetic in a hospital operating theatre.

Any non-impacted wisdom that had to be removed because of decay or some other reason could be done easily in a dentist chair. She did mine in less than five mins.

No pain from any of the procedures.

I had all my wisdom teeth pulled out at the dentist.

3 were pulled at the same time as mine come out easy-ish.

If you need anaesthesia you'll have to go to a specialist dentist.

All 4 of mine were removed at the same time, in hospital, under a general anaesthetic. I had a root wrapped round a nerve that could have caused facial paralysis.

Dentist, early 20s, all four at once under local anaesthetic. Only ill effect was I found myself chewing my tongue when the anaesthetic wore off.

Dentist took about 5 mins and virtually no pain afterwards I avoided it for so long as I thought it was gonna hurt like hell was such a relief when it was over
