What is your deepest belief about life?

Life comes in many different shapes and forms.

We all have different values and morals, and none of those should ever be judged by someone else as they will never know your full story and the choices you had to make in life.

Deep question today. What is your deepest belief about life?

Mine is that everyone, deep down, has the ability to be a good person.

I'm not sure everyone can be 'good' because our definitions of good will be subjective. What I might think of as an evil act, another person might consider good. I think most people have empathy for others, but even then some don't because there are certain diagnosable conditions where that doesn't exist. For those people, not considering the feelings of others is natural and doesn't make them 'bad' because they have no other option.

Good and bad are words I don't think should be used when judging people.

If we all have different values and morals and they should never be judged ........ why are our prisons full ? why do some call out other cultures for their beliefs ? would knowing the full story of a sexual criminal/murderer make their life choices okay with others ?

A deep belief I hold is that if you hear/read something you believe to be untrue or harmful then never leave it unchallenged.

Your last line is very Kantian indeed.

I’m not intending to say that people who aren’t classed as good people are then bad people.

Yes I am generalising based on modern wetter beliefs but a the same time I believe that a trait like being kind is important

We have different values and morals on what constitutes a good person.

Our prisons are full because people have made the choices to go against laws and societies collective morals.

And no, knowing the full story would not make their choices better, but better understanding of the root cause and how to help these people would mean that future generations would receive the help and support that is already greatly needed.

In life we are all dealt the same amount of random cards, some will get aces and others will feel like folding.

Its up to us to play the best hand we can make and let the chips fall where they may...

Well that certainly is a deep question. I think mine is that we are all creators, in which our thoughts and choices manifest in reality, all capable of positive and negative.. if any of that makes sense.

I also share that belief, it motivates a lot of what I do. That’s why I believe trust is granted not earned.
