She considers herself British and that should be enough. There’s more to nationality than just genetics

Aged 2 I believe. On that basis I think she's the "most British" of the current/recent crop born abroad but raised over here.

Laura Robson (Aus) - 6

Johanna Konta (Aus)- 14

Kyle Edmund (Sth Africa) - 3

Rusedski (Can) - 21/22

Joking aside she's top notch and I'm struggling to see a weakness in her game. After Winbledon you could she was a potential top 10/20 player but the consistent high levels she's hit at the US have been staggering. She's dismantled some world-class players and with Serena finally on the wane there's definitely a chance for her to contend for multiple majors assuming she stays fit & focused.

Good to see we've finally got a genuine challenger in the women's ranks as it's been long overdue and hopefully she's the inspiration for more to follow.

All tv, radio channels and newspapers are describing her as British.

Your starting point of complaint should first be directed to them for spreading fake news.

Followed by the Home Office for granting her citizenship.

Living here is completely relevant. Nationality is way more complex. It’s just as much where you grew up, where you feel at home, where you contribute, where you feel an affinity with, where you feel you belong.

My best friend was born in London to a English father and a German mother. Lived in Wales since he was four - that’s 44 years. Fluent Welsh speaker, goes to every Wales away football match, expert on the history and culture.

Try telling him he doesn’t qualify

To be British you need to believe in and live British values, so they say when you attempt the obtain citizenship. On that note I urge you to have a go at Life in the UK test.. let's see how proper Brit will do.. When it comes to ethos, based on this comment, she sounds more Brit to me than you. In few years time mixed race people will be the biggest "minority" here. Get used to it, you have time to open your mind.

What is "British"? Who is British? No-one living today can declare themselves 100% pure Briton. The islands of GB and NI have been invaded multiple times by groups comprised of varied ethnic backgrounds. Immigration has been a constant feature of British life and society - it's not just a 20th/21st century thing.

If you qualify for a British passport, you are British. End of. It's got nothing to do with ethnicity, skin colour or anything else.

I just find it convenient that a promising successful sports star is labelled as British.

Barry McGuigan was British when he won his World title and yet he was Northern Irish when he lost.

Lots of people complain about Scots, Welsh and Irish players representing their national teams because they weren't born there and yet they are the first to cheer on Raheem Sterling when he plays for England. (He was born in Jamaica)

Are those nations not part of Britain? The rest of the World aren’t particular to the nuances of the four nations that make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They barely even know what the difference is between UK and Britain.

The Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK and thanks to the government Northern Ireland is not being treated as part of the UK at the moment.

When players of these nations line out and are criticised as not being born there yet people not born in Britain are embraced as being British then it is hypocritical.

I'm trying to think of the last great female tennis rivalry. Serena has dominated for so long and plenty of players have tried to have a crack at her but I don't recall a consistent rivalry, just lots of failed pretenders to the crown! I guess you have to go back to Navratilova & Evert.

I'd happily settle for another 15 years of Raducanu v Fernandez. Brilliant players!

No they're not. They're basically saying because she wasn't born in the UK and has foreign parents she can't be British. I mean she must really yearn for those first 2 years of her life that she remembers so fondly on foreign soil.

Interestingly our racist friends on this thread all seem to come from the same demographic... fat white men in their mid to late 50's. A sign of the era they were brought up in perhaps?

Don't know what forum you are reading, what I'm saying is don't pick and choose.

Don't get all enthusiastic over a sports star and make them British when the likelihood is you wouldn't give the same courtesy to the person serving your coffee or taking yoyr money at the petrol station.

Dont cheer for Raheem Sterling, Emma or any number of cricket players and then berate a football player because he wasn't born in the country that he represents.

And as for your image of who I supposedly am, We can all see that you've got enough stereotypes of your own already.

YOU are assuming people here support Raducanu and treat her differently from Sterling and "any number of cricketers" (no idea who you're referring to here at all) without any reason to at all. And yet more drivel in your random comment about petrol station workers.

Think you're not too far behind me on so called false assumptions based on what or who you think I am.

As for evidence, I don't have to give you any at all as it's all out there for anyone to see for themselves.

The fact you want to be spoon fed to see someone else's point of view shows you to be a bit limited in your outlook.

Shame the men's final was an anti-climax although fair play to Medvedev, who completely overpowered Novak who was probably suffering from the Zverev exerts. However, a fully firing Djokovic would've struggled to stay with him on that performance last night.

2 worthy champions and is this finally a changing of the old guard? I reckon NoDjo and Rafa have a few more slams between them yet if they stay fit.
