I’ve had a membership, twice.

Had another look last year. When I was a member previously it was expensive, but now the cost Is just insane! Clearly aimed at corporate customers.

Worth it? How long will you spend there, and actually use it? I decided it wasn’t, especially as there are lots of good quality establishments for significantly lower prices. Your mileage may vary.

Been to one recently, my mate is a member so he got me a day pass. The outdoor facilities, pool, hot tubs etc..were great and the gym also. But unfortunately his club is a 30 minute drive away, so I doubt I’ll use it enough to justify the membership.

I may consider it in the future though as if I get this job I’ve applied for I may move closer to this job and the gym.

I go three or four times a week, mixture of gym, swimming and classes, in particular the Blaze HiT classes which are great. I like It a lot. Its not cheap, but if you go reasonably frequently its good value.

We looked into it buts £120 a month so it's not just a little bit more expensive than other gyms. If you can justify though it is worth it.

Check our Everest if you have one near you, normally £40 but £30 a month right now, great gyms, punch bags, lots of free weights, classes, 20m pool, sauna, hot tubs, great changing room facilities, cafe, any U.K. gym access, two guest passes a month . Not quite the level of David Lloyd or Nuffield with restaurant/bars etc but less than half the price. My only complaint is it’s not 247 access but neither is David Lloyd.

We’ve both been members of “the Dave” (King Gary) a number of times. They all offer different facilities, number of inside/outside courts. Some have bowling lanes and/or indoor bowls green so the price is what it is, the value however is what you place on those facilities you’d use.

We didn’t value our local DL as much as another we’ve since joined.

My experience with DL is a mixed bag. If you want a gym only I would advise you look at other gyms in your area, they will be far more cost effective and a gym is aa gym.

If you want classes such as yoga / blaze HIIT it could workout a good choice for you as they are part of your subscription, however it is worth asking at your local DL if the classes are over subscribed and hard to get a place.

Tennis (racquets) membership is top level platinum, as above ask about availability of courts, there is no point paying close to £200 a month if you can't get a court.

Another consideration, leaving or cancelling your membership is not straight forward and DL will / do make it as hard as possible for you to simply go. Check trust pilot for the complaints they received from customers wanting to leave and being stopped.

Im a member and looking for a gym buddy Harrogate area! I believe they are now in a tier costing system and the more the club has the more the cost/higher the tier.

I would say its more than a typical gym and is very much aimed at being a lifestyle venue. It really depends what you want and what you can afford to pay for it.

I'm a member and really like the place for a number of reasons. It really comes down to how much you use the facilities. To just use the gym, it's probably not worth it, but if you like classes like the Blaze class that someone has mentioned above, you'll get more value. My membership allows me to use other clubs, which is sometimes handy. One thing I particularly appreciated during our 2 week summer (!) this year was sitting outside by the outdoor pool, which some clubs have. Some also have spa areas, including saunas, jacuzzis, steam rooms and plunge pools.

I was a member of two different DLs in the past. It was pretty cheap with the corp discounts the first time, the second one I paid for it.

It’s worth it if you use all the facilities; having said that, I checked the prices for my closest one (which is full on with racquet facilities and really nice). But the price is pants.

I got Hussle instead which is pretty good if you can visit only once a twice a week. I use the Hilton/Village hotels gym and pools which are pretty good for what I need

Too expensive, I remember years ago, the Lloyd brothers being interviewed on the BBC, telling everyone the idea was to get kids playing tennis and it was affordable for everyone, turned out to be a massive lie and the had the free publicity
