Im guessing this bar is what 18 inches so what sort of thread does the ball have in it?

Pull it? I've tried unscrewing it and all sorts, doesn't it have to be hinged to pull open?

is it a closed ring? if so then yes you just pull it. its not hinged, the ball will come off completely

A few have tried and failed miserably. I was considering glueing it on as I've often unscrewed it with a vigorous fiddle.

I lost my bar in a Chinese restaurant. Was then I decided on a ring and have managed to lose 2 of them through playing lol
