Hard hats not ‘helmets

Hard hats not to be called ‘helmets’ anymore because it’s not inclusive and conjures up images of the patriarchy and the male member, hard hats will be now known as the more neutral term ‘hard hats’, do you agree or has woke culture gone too far this time ?

This is very true, it indicates that men are the dominant sex and women are the submissive’s, which of course is not strictly correct, unless it’s a woman wearing a hard hat, then that’s okay.

Never been referred to as a helmet in the trade to my knowledge.

Always been a hard hat.

I do think they need renaming though.

They should be named uncomfortable useless hats.

Or, higher hairline acceleration hats.

I once told a work mate about the transparent hard hats available and that I was considering getting one, probably the blue one.

A few days later he arrived in with a clear one. I thought to myself you wee fucker, I'll never divulge anything to you again.

As the day progressed he had the piss taken out of him. The highlight being the health and safety officer saying he looked like a condom and making him put yellow and black warning tape on said helmet so people could see he had a helmet on while working at heights.

At the end of the day I told him I was glad he got one first so I avoided what he endured.
