I prefer fillet to rump and I like it medium. Anything more spoils the tender flavour.

Rib-eye or Rump, rare, with chips and mayo, fried blue-cheese topped big field mushroom, fried onions or onion rings, and a crispy lightly dressed green salad, to be washed down with lots of red wine!

I like it cooked!

In France I ask for "Bien cuit. Noir!" and I still don't get it quite as well done as I'd like.

"well done/ borederline cremated"
I used to - as a child have steaks cooked that way - something about not liking the pink/ reddish colour of the meat. I can understand why people like their meat cremated although I d say it is worth trying to havea it cooked a little less sometimes? Jyst to see if you might like it?

I started off well done, then gradually moved down to rare. Was a vegetarian for 11 years and didn't know what I was missing!!

I don't like steak

Would sooner have a home made cheese & onion plate pie with a pile of thick cut chips.

Can anyone think why I'll never be a 32 waist again ?

I also like steak tartare, as in raw mince steak, mixed with mayo, Dijon mustard, Worcester sauce, finely chopped onions, shallots, gherkins, capers and parsley, to be eaten with chips with mayo and a crispy lightly dressed green salad.

.

Forgot to mention a creamy blue-cheese sauce, or Diane, on the side; or drizzled with lemon juice; or just plain with Dijon mustard.

You can make it at home if you have a mincer.

I tend to eat it in France, as not many places offer this dish in the UK, shame.
