Seeking recommendations; a good film or tv show you’ve watched, a book you’ve read or somewhere you’ve been. In fact anything - what are your recommendations?

"An oldie: American Beauty "

That has Chris Cooper in playing the neighbour, I think he’s a terrific actor.

The Henchmen's Book Club by Danny King. We’ve all seen the dozens of men who help out the Bond villains in their hollowed out volcanoes, this is written from one’s viewpoint and it’s really funny

Wolf of Wall Street. I still can’t believe that it actually happened though apparently in rl there were more drugs involved than in the actual film

My personal favourite recent series is ‘Derry Girls’ as I lived in Northern Ireland I find it’s pretty spot on with the characters and place. Netflix.

Also an intelligent but funny take on modern relationships you can’t go wrong with ‘Catastrophe’ Prime.

Agree with a previous comment with A_elie, also on Prime, guaranteed to make you smile. Such a beautiful film if you don’t mind subtitles.

Also currently watching’Veep’

Tokyo Trial on Netflix. Not sure if your sort of thing, but it it is a dramatisation, mixed with real footage, of the trial of the Japanese at the end of WWII and focuses around the 11 judges and their differences

I’m not sure it lasted beyond the one thread and the one book!! But it was an ace idea and we did all enjoy the book.

There's a French espionage series called Le Bureau, which is one of the best TV shows I've ever seen.

LA Confidential is an awesome movie.

Guy Barker is a jazz trumpeter who is well worth checking out.

If you can find it, Nurse Jackie starring Edie Falco (of Sopranos fame) playing a prescription drug addicted, adulterous a&e nurse in a busy New York hospital

There's 7 series, I watched the lot, it's a thing of glory, one that was overlooked by many

It is actually billed as a comedy, but it has drama, it has humour, it's touching, the character base is wonderfully diverse

Over the series, it takes you on her journey, watch her unravel, re-build, unravel again

You want to hate her, but you find yourself rooting for her

It was nominated for loads of awards and iirc Falco received an Emmy for her performance

The best thing for me (with pretty much zero attention span), the episodes are only half an hour so you can dip in as opposed to absorbing when you've not got loads of time on your hands

I hope you do find it Stelly and, if you do, I hope you love it x
