Our daughter has got her very first job today, she's just a young teenager but went to her trial day with confidence and proved herself. We are chuffed.

What was your first ever paid job?

Paper round- odd jobs but my first salaried job was in the fashion industry in my 20s

I had a paper round as soon as I could, but also did random odd jobs for friends parents too.

I deliver free papers when I was 11 for £2.50 a week then I started working at the Spanish city fun fair in Whitley bay when I was 13 and paid 70p an hour….. I thought I was loaded xxx

Saturday job at 14, collecting and counting the money in Woolworth's.

I'm not sure why they let a 14 year old, accompanied by a 15 year old lad, collect the money 3 times a day. It was a relatively large Woolworth's with clothes, furniture, cheese and meat counters and the usual Woolworth's stuff. We picked up a lot of cash just after lunch and in late afternoon.

I was a farm hand as a teenager, loved it! Dang carry hay bails like I used to though. Recently the farmers (now grown up) daughter tracked me down. I wasn’t single at the time and wouldn’t play away but now……

Oh that is brilliant! Well done to her! what is she doing?

My first job was a chambermaid in a hotel, felt so grown up as I had a little flat at the top of the hotel. Earned £120 a week and lodging was free, meals cooked by the chef and close to the beach. I loved it

I worked in a hair dressers- I was responsible for booking people in, making tea, washing hair and then seeeping up/ cleaning. I was paid £25 for a Saturday, this was the mid 90’s. Best job ever
