Bat Paranoia

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

I live in part of a 19th century Gothic manor house which is on the edge of a wood.

On an evening as dusk falls, I can look out of my window and watch the bats give a flying display until it gets dark.

A couple of nights ago, after a very long day - I had been up since 5.30am and this was at 1am - I was dozing on the sofa in front of the telly when I could have sworn I saw a bat fly two laps of my lounge. I went into my hallway and into the other rooms, but no sign of it. All doors and windows were closed.

Yesterday I did a thorough search of my flat and still no sign of it.

So, I'm now paranoid that there is a bat hiding somewhere, which if not found and coaxed outside will die, and I'm also paranoid that there was never a bat in the first place and I was seeing things due to extreme tiredness and my meds.

I suppose it's a Scrodinger's bat! Is it there or isn't it? Is it alive and dead at the same time?

It's enough to drive me batty!

Don't worry about it OP. I lived somewhere that had bats fly into the sitting room and then out again after a while on a few occasions. They know how to find their way around.

I can only assume it came down the chimney and got out the same way.

Don't think you've anything to worry about, as their sonar is awesome, if there's any way out, a bat will find it.

I'm not really worried. I just wanted to use the Scrodinger's Bat joke

Your first sentence sounds like the beginning of a story. 'For hundreds of years I have walked these floors....'

Hope your bat gets out

You'll know if you've got bats in your room, they don't stop moving!

I once had one in and it took me an hour to catch it with a fishing net to get it out

Probably gone but if there's a batmobile parked outside you'd best be careful!!!

I wasn't aware we had them, till I saw a d*unk bird flying round our building. I was told later that it was a bat.
