"Midsommar … what an experience "

Absolutely, one of the few films I have watched twice, recently.

It has a weird effect on me that film. I ended up watching several YouTube videos over some of the plot and themes it brought up.

Did the boyfriend really deserve what he got ?

Was he the one sexually assaulted?

What’s with the smile

Loved it

Newry Down

The (original) Day of the Jackal from 1973, directed by Fred Zinneman, and starring Edward Fox is a true masterpiece of cinematography, with multiple levels of sophistication and timing.

The remake, possibly featuring Bruce Willis is a dreadful piece of trash, that should be shredded.

Another rarely seen masterpiece, starring Charles Bronson, is Mr. Majestyk; he is a melon farmer who stands up to the local Mafia hoods. Flawed in places, but very entertaining and fast-paced.

A multilayered masterpiece is Three Days of the Condor, starring Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway. I had to source my copy from South Korea; could not find a copy anywhere in the West!

Grosse Point Blank - brilliant film and in my top 100 certainly close to the top ten. Gets extra points because I Minnie Driver in that part. Newry Down

Straw Dogs

Both versions are actually very good, but set in very different locations: Cornwall in 1971 and redneck deep south USA.

Good hints for anti-home invasion tactics.

I recommend Carol quite a lot, and nobody has ever come back to me to say they were disappointed in it.

Swords and Dublin

I'm a fan of French cinema.

Le Grand Blu - version Longe. The story is loosely based on real individuals and the music score (Eric Serra) is magnificent.

Basically any directed by Luc Besson is worthy in my opinion.

And after watching the Big Blue, I felt the need to become a qualified scuba diver, such was the power of that movie.
