When a gay/bisexual person has a crush on you

Right I'm sure we've all been through this. Honestly who hasn't hur? When someone(friend, work colleague, ect) confess thier sin that they have a crush on you. And every time YOU never saw it coming? Honestly I never saw it coming. From my experience, it was 'how do I handle the situation without hurting them so that we can still be work mates/friends?

So the way I handle it(from past experience) is' I'm really sorry but you're just not my type'. That way it doesn't make them feel so awkward. Because they think you're gay so they go for the kill. So by this method you've kind of soften the blow.

So yeah how do people here handle these life dilemmas (past and present)?

I mean even saying “You are not my type I’m into girls” should be enough x I don’t think it’s offensive and I’m sure that person will get it

It’s not exactly like we decide who we are attracted to x

Even if someone was the gender you are attracted to, if you don’t find them attractive or you aren’t into them for X , Y , Z … honesty is the best policy

King's Crustacean

I'd take it as a compliment and explain to them why I couldn't share their interest.

Everyone deserves respect and truth ( of a kind )

I mean does it matter the gender ? It's a human being expressing emotion.

Tell them you’re not gay but it’s a lovely compliment.

You've never had a guy had a crush on you? The fist time it happened to me was when I was in my 20's back packing through Europe, in Paris. It was so touching. He poured his heart out to me via a letter just before we parter waves. Well actually he cried the night before I left. Blamed his parents for being gay. Notwistanding that he loved the gay scene. It's so sweet when these life situations happen.

I mean girls go through it.

Living in Brighton I used to get it all the time and loved the attention but everyone knew I was straight due to the company I kept. Never stopped me flirting tho. Shame Brighton isn't what it used to be.

I remember, Brighton was considered the gay capital of England. I use to live in Kent and we use to drive there often.

But you know girls handle these situations so much better than guys. And through them I learnt how to 'handle' certain delicate issues without hurting anyone yet we can all still maintain friendship. It's a fine balancing act.
