I'm guessing it's a Chromebook or something similar?

Have you tried a factory reset?

not a cromebook, but same sort of thing but windows, have tried a re install of windows but no change, so thinking it may have a hardwear fault, its not the end of the world as have a proper laptop aswell but would like it to work

Is it SSD or HDD hard disk? If it's HDD, try disk defragmentation.

Given the touch pad issues and persistent issues even after windows reinstall, it mostly looks like hardware fault to me.

any ideas what, im fairly tech savy but like i said, never had one of these things before, but love it as its the perfect size for on the lap, so would rather save it if i can, but it wasnt expensive so not worth spending much on, can get a new one for a few hundred, but its not that old, so that seems a wast, usually get a decade or so out of a laptop, yes im a skinflint lol
