And can you do them in a wheelchair, or without legs or arms, or blind?

of course they can, my father was disabled, yet the things he could do were amazing, ive recently had double knee and was unable to walk properly, i now have a new level of respect for anyone with a disability, difference is that i will get better in time, most of them dont

There are over 50's in the Olympics.

I would bet you 50p you couldn't do half of what paralympians do!

I hear it explained the other day on the radio. They don’t consider themselves Olympians. They consider themselves Paralympians

I cannot play football as well as a professional footballer but I am better then a blind person at football so maybe we are all Olympians

An Olympian is a competitor at the Olympics…

I’m sure as an able bodied person you could do better than a disabled Olympian, but many would whip your ass, what is your point.

Nick Skelton was well over 50 when he won Olympic Gold. Again what is your point?

Have you tried to dribble a basketball, whilst manoeuvring a wheelchair at high speed and shooting into a full height basket from outside the key, in a seated position?!

You're comparing your abled body to disabled one though. How is that fair?

Was going to say after this and the sexuality thread, has the OP suffered a catastrophic head injury and been in a coma for 20 years and just reawakened…

I'll just let the terminator deal with this

try doing it blind then, they would spank you, battling a disability is a war in itself, try it sometime, get in a wheelchair and try basketball!

Somewhere over there

Lucky enough to know a few members of the Boccia team who are flying out to compete.

They are Paralympians; the amount of sheer will, determination and talent to be an elite athlete (never mind battling a disability of some sort) takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears and should be given the respect they deserve.
