In a recent episode of the TV programme Countdown a contestant offered a seven letter word which is in the dictionary and he said it was rude and they accepted the word p****er. Lots of criticism of the show?

Justified or not ?

I get that the term is now offensive, but it is in the dictionary and therefore is a valid word.

Plus the guy did acknowledge that it was a bit dodgy, because of its modern association, beforehand.

Short of censoring the dictionary, there's not a lot mote that can be done
