Wow! Whilst on my evening perv I have been looking at loads of profiles and it has become apparent. Asking how someone is, is frowned upon.

On some profiles it is highlighted that were someone to ask would result in the enquirer being blocked.

I don’t get an influx of messages in my inbox, unless I post something controversial here (and no I don’t think this subject is very controversial). So I don’t find it as annoying as some appear to.

Is it really so bad to ask how someone is?

It's not that it's bad... just so very predictable. 90% of opening messages are "hi, how are you"

Some get so many messages, something like "how are you" just gets lost.

Most want a message that shows you're interested in them as an idividual, and have read their profile. A single line doesn't.

Most definitely agree that a single line or just hi how are you would be a pretty pointless message. Does this happen often?

I meant that I am guilty of approaching people in face to face situations with that as an opening line and probably something I say quite often

Fab is very different to meeting someone face to face.

….

It’s a lazy start to a conversation

Women get asked that a gazillion times a day

I’m not inclined to open a message at all of having seen it from the preview that’s all it is

I’d much rather someone took a few minutes to scan my profile and send a personal message, I’d then take the effort to reply- if he’s what I’m looking for

If he’s not my type, then having read my profile he’s know he’s not my type and saved himself a message

About 95% of messages we receive are "hi", "hi how are you (or youse)" or "meet now?"

Four out of the five unread messages we have seem to just be one of these three messages. Most are also black avatars and I don't need to click on the profile to know that the text will likely be "fill in later" or similar.

All - deletes.

It's just such a bland and generic messsge. Make a bit of effort. Ask about something in my profile ( if you read it ).

You know if you went to a job interview, would your only question be how are you? No exactly, we all need something a little more in our personality to get that job

Low effort profiles demand extremely high effort messages for even the chance it might get read, let alone replied too

It’s how the numbers work on here. Think of each woman/couple as a job interview and each single guy as someone applying.

Even if the job is cleaning out toilets, if there are 1000 people applying daily they can be extremely demanding and picky in their choices

“How’s u”

“What are you up to”

“Any plans for the day/evening/weekend”

And all of them like that, not even with the courtesy of a question mark will guarantee a no response from me.

No, it's better than some of the messages I get!

A face pic, a compliment, referring to something in my profile and asking how I am is a great way to start a conversation.

"

It's highly annoying when there's nothing else and the sender hasn't even bothered to read our status let alone our profile first.

We've specifically requested no one line messages but we regularly get stuff like:

Hey how you doin? (Yes we still get that lol)

Hi, what you looking for? (it's all in our profile!)

Hi, fancy a fuck?

Hi, I'm in a layby fancy a shag?

I'd love to fuck her up the arse!

Fancy a coffee?

Would love to meet.

It would be quite so bad if these guys met even some of our basic requirements but 99% of the time they don't. What they're actually doing is sending the same lazy unwanted messages to loads of people in order to get noticed so we treat it as the spam it is.

"Wtf do you want people to say

If I was a single lady getting regular 1 line, text speak messages, I would ignore them too.

There's so many single guys on here, I would be looking for tge ones who appeared to have the ability to communicate well, and read my profile.

It's not being stuck up, to expect someone to send a message using actual words and punctuation.

You cannot compare Fab to meeting in person.

I don't mind the how are you, if its from someone who has a decent profile. I will generally reply and see how the chat goes.

When it's from a rubbish profile with no pics or text, I delete.
