Loved all my holidays, can’t think of any I’d wanted to come back from

The only one I expected way more from the place was maybe Zanzibar, it wasn’t bad just good-ish ..

Worthing

Never had a bad holiday. A rainy, cloudy place is still nice with the right person or people.

Tunisia...I don't know what brought me there but I was attacked & mugged on my 1st night there & spent a wk in hospital Totally unprovoked random attack by 5 local women in a night club. They dragged me to a secluded isolated part of the club...the rest is too upsetting to write.

Den of Iniquity

Although the holiday itself was OK ish , had a disaster one year when we flew out to Turkey on XL Airlines. While we were in the air the company literally went bust , we had no transfers to the hotel and had to get to get a rickety old bus for a 2 hour journey with no air con .

Got to Marmaris and the hotel we booked had stopped taking orders from the travel agent for their premises due to payment issues and we were stuck in Turkey with no flight home and no hotel .

We were literally homeless in Turkey haha...

Fortunately ATOL stepped in and we ended in a better hotel and all went well . Flight home was scary on some unheard of African airline , I swear the plane was powered by electric hand fans and was gonna fall apart at any second ..

So that one

Family holiday when I was young:

Brother and cousins go off canoeing. I get to watch from the river bank because "I'm not into it", or so I was told. They then traipse to the pub that I was barred (by my age) from getting into. So I stayed outside in the cold for three hours. Back to their place. Come evening, I'm told that we're going out. At the last minute (car doors were open, everyone getting in) I get told that I can't go, as there's not enough space at the restaurant. Stay in with the adults all night. Boring doesn't even cover it. Next day, cousins and brother head into town, I get left behind 'by accident'. They come home in the evening, get changed and go out. Again, I get told that I can go and at the last minute get told that I can't.

Any wonder that we don't talk to each other anymore?

Butlins with my parents age 16...

The only other people anywhere near my age were working there and I thought the entertainment available was dire.

Hemsby holiday park... crazy golf course from the 1950's needed updating badly, elvis impersonator needed shooting, crocodile mascot was scarey as f**k, chalets were damp and mouldy, food was all greasey and expensive, "cinema" was a screen in the ball room which was filthy and the queues to get and return keys went around the block... never again.

Snap...I even got arrested (at gunpoint) as I was about to board my return (package holiday) flight. For some reason, even though I had my blonde wife and two young children with me, the airport plod thought I was a local Arab fleeing the country!! Eventually, without any explanation, they threw my passport back at me and I was allowed to board my plane. Swore there and then I would NEVER return!
