Over 40s - what advice would you give to your younger self?

Me - don’t stress, you look great so be more confident, avoid the exciting (psychotic) blonde as it end badly, be more adventurous in every way, go and live in Canada or New Zealand, start your pension early, stay in touch with the good people, fuck and love with abandon like your life depends on it.

How about you?

Learn a second language properly.

Go live in that country properly.

Laugh your ass of at Brexit result and feel smug that you live away from that shit storm.

Ask for help when you needed it.

Ask the questions you were afraid to and offer the help you could

I'm just thankfull that the internet and Fab hadn't turned up 30 years ago! I think my life would have been completely different.

My advice would be to go for that person you fancy like mad and stop dropping hints about the way you feel or you may live to regret it

Don't stress and work too hard, no one is going to notice it.

Enjoy life and have as much sex as possible.

I would also tell my younger self to avoid a certain lady that likes to analyse me

All of the above.

And don’t give a fuck what other people think, whether that is “society” or what you think matters to other people, set your own priorities, your own behavioural norms, and live life your way, literally the only thing that matters

Dont try to fit in, find people who let you in...

Have a bit more confidence in your self worth.

Exfoliate, moisturise and wear suncream, at least SPF 30.

Get on the property ladder as soon as you can, cut toxic people out, don’t be afraid to say no, use peoples names when taking to them, they respond better.

Don’t fuck about doing Business and Finance, you hate it, go out work for yourself, don’t make other people rich, send those songs off, fuck it, you never know.

Had an adventurous life experienced much so no change there. Id say just this time don't be nice to people, trust them, offer to help them when they need it, cos they'll stab you in the back at every opportunity if they think it will give them an advantage.

You were never the problem. She just isn't maternal and very probably fighting demons nobody knows about.

Get help though, as soon as you can because little do you realise you WILL become part of a cycle even though you don't want to be, even though you hate bullies, manipulators and liars. Not the outright open ones but the sly ones. You'll be drawn to their confidence and aura they give off as it subconsciously reminds you of her. You'll be substituting her with them, seeking their validation, trying to change for their approval, left wondering what more you could do to earn love and keep it.

Act now, or you'll pay for it later.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

Don't be scared to take risks in life. Take the jump, don't look back and if you fuck up correct it & don't repeat again.

It's always easier to take the easy way out - that's what most people do & end up not being very happy for the rest of their lives. Or living the life they could have.

Time and life is valuable, Don't dedicate too much of your life at work.

Live a little, its fine to have a girlfriend, stop looking for the perfect one/soul mate as time passes us by too quickly and before long, you'll find yourself at 45, single and sad reflecting on what could have been

Don't worry about whatever other people think. They all have their own secrets anyway.

Also, hurt people hurt people, and pretty much everyone you meet is dealing with shit you can't see, so take a chill pill and be nice. The only time the world needs more dicks is at greedy girls.

I’m 34 so not quite 40, but if I could go back to my 18 year old self I would tell her it’s ok to be single, I know you’re afraid to be alone but don’t settle being with a shitty guy because of it. Rent that flat by yourself and really give yourself time to discover who you are, don’t mould yourself around your partner to be what they want. You will be lonely sometimes but I promise it will be worth it. Also get that therapy you keep thinking about, you get it in the future but it would of helped so much more if you got it sooner.
