Having this evening with a lovely couple and the conversation turned to gaming

Posed the question, what’s your fav board game?

For me it’s articulate;

Answers on a postcard (or this forum if it’s easier)

Scrabble is the best.

I also like catopoly, which is monopoly but with cats instead of streets. Sounds thrilling doesn't it lol

Colchester

Settlers of Catan by Klaus Teuber, published in 1995.

Settlers of Catan became one of the first German-style board games to achieve popularity outside Europe.

As of 2015, more than 22 million copies in 30 languages had been sold.

This game single-handedly re-invigorated the board game genre.

Prior to that, it was dominated by the likes of Monopoly, Scrabble, Cluedo and the like. All great games, but frankly tired and a bit old hat.

SoC breathed life in to the old, and led a new vanguard of game designers determined to shake up the board game industry. Now, it's healthier than it ever has been, and the sheer amount of board games on offer is astonishing.

Space Crusade.

Using the additional rules from white dwarves articles from back in the day...

I mean I like a load of these new games that make waves through Kickstarter. Zombizide and Gloomhaven. But nothing really ticks my boxes like the nostalgia kick from Space Crusade.

Heroquest and 2nd edition Talisman were close runners up for me.

Geek and proud!

You'd be at home on our game night. Space Crusade was a big favourite. They've since bought Twilight Imperium but can't work out how to play it yet.

I'm more into Ticket to Ride, Jaws and Pandemic and opt of of the 10 hour epic gaming sessions.

Recently had a meet with a lovely couple where the evening started with several board games. Just light fun games and we had to pick the games up for ourselves after.

King of Tokyo, 5 minute marvel and Codenames -after dark.

All were great fun and made for a fun evening

Is chess a board game? Remember playing naked chess with a girl after a night out, that ended up a good night..

Risk, stratego, cluedo or labyrinth are the normal go to board games.. anything with a little skill, a little luck and it’s good to go.

Monopoly is one of my favourites and I like getting different versions of it. I recently found out that there’s a Star Trek The Next Generation version and I need it, haha!

I recently picked up a Top Gun role play / board game that looks like a laugh. Apparently there are two phases in each round - volleyball and flying
