Well, banning the ownership of guns after Dunblane has really prevented madmen going on gun shooting sprees

Market Harborough / Kettering

As all law abiding licenced gun owners said 20 years ago, its not the gun that kills people but the nutter pulling the trigger!

Weve been told not to share or talk or speculate about it. Also nobody can share any footage

2,000 odd gun crimes in London last year alone. I for one am glad we have these laws that prevent you from defending yourself against armed criminals.

Absolutely awful news

We’ve been following from the Midlands as eldest is an Argyle supporter.

The world seems to have gone mad lately - we’ve had a woman left dead & burnt in a lay-by

It’s quite awful isn’t it.

My young ones heard the news on the local radio yesterday and are very shaken up by it.

If guns were legal here like in the US this would be a common occurance

Sounds like he was licensed. Not sure if the weapon itself was.

BBC suggests links to incels although not sure if the attack itself was targeted at women and motivated by this. Imo, if it was, it should be called as a terror attack.

Sad times.

has this been confirmed? MH issues are wide reaching tho, so I'd say this line is parked before until more details are revealed.

No, just a question to the police who said they would investigate it.

Handguns weren't banned per se. The ban was on short firearms, i.e. those with a barrel length of less than 12" and an overall length of less than 24". Obviously, handguns were caught up in that, although you can still have muzzle loading handguns, including multi-shot ones.

I find this comment crass. Do you have any idea how many men and women walk the Earth with hidden mental health problems. Your friends. Probably your family. Certainly many people we come in contact with day to day. To suggest this is someone else’s fault , is to shift the responsibility from the perpetrator to the firearms officer - it’s the epitome of blame culture The guy had mental health issues - it’s highly likely he didn’t fess up to that when the firearms licence was issued - but he and he alone caused the deaths, Nobody else.
