I'm more interested in serious topics, but sometimes silly things like, favourite cake. I get frustrated sometimes about words we cannot say or topics we can't discuss on here. I'm into topics like fast fashion, food, domestic violence (not allowed to discuss), racism, abortion. animal welfare, music, health and space. To name a few. | |||

"is what exactly? I am asking to find out what people enjoy chatting about apart from sex related matters. Naturally that is part of what is discussed in the forums. We have had topics of all sorts though and I quite like that.
So what DO people like as a thread?
To have a giggle. To potentially open your mind to some new knowledge. To maybe get a nice shag.

"There isn't a point. Nothing that could be pinned down. It's a meaningless place but it's a place with purposes of sorts. Plural because what it is being used for at any one time is very person dependent and that changes again with the emotions / moods of the same person. Internet forums don't exist they evidence the outpourings of those that use them, for whatever gain. Interesting point, and I wonder what the different gains these might be and whether they indeed reflect the individual's outpourings? I guess they do, answering my own question
I think for myself in one way I do not need them... not just fabs but any internet forum, and then in another way I find myself posting. I cannot say I am bored with my life, on the contrary, I do not have enough time to do all the things I want to do. So what on earth... makes it happen? "I relate to your last paragraph. "I’ve been on different forums (two specifically on sex based sites) and a few parenting and film based sites. All things they have in common? Folk like to talk about sex! Be that in great detail (like on here) or just a few flirtatious sexual innuendo based comments on the other sites. Another thing folk like to talk about? Matters of the heart. This site allows all that and more. I like some light hearted threads and the threads that allow you to navel gaze. There is something for everyone on here and sure, it can get samey, but Fab isn’t alone in that regard, all forums and forumites have their ups and downs. Folk move on, folk come back. The forum remains. A social gathering of minds." In reality I avoid simple, sexual innuendo like the plague. One of my neighbours is a past master at it. I find it juvenile and as he discovered that he does it all the more. Yet I'll join in the innuendo here at times or overlook it even though I find it crass and nauseating. I know why I let it go over my head in here though. It does make me smile when people say they study the forums to 'get the measure' of a poster. How deluded they must be. Not sure I agree with you on the very last part - or maybe I misunderstood it: I am put off by aggressive, bullyish behaviour in forums as much as by aggressive profiles and status updates. That is what I would understand as to "get the measure" of somebody and in real life I would avoid these people. Do people post to please others? Of course, they do sometimes - it is part of the social dance. There is a difference between being socially engaging and completing masking your true personality to achieve a certain goal though. But maybe I completely misread your post in which case, I ll stand in the corner and repent for a while. | |||

I had to. I, too came in for a 20 minute break - I got pulled in, sucked in...and without a sandwich in sight! I have lost a couple of hours which I have to make up now. "i was on this site back in the day 2007 to 2013..met and married a wonderful guy on here...he passed way last year one of the reasons i loved fabs was the forums you knida got to know people through them..im back again and am going to try to get involved in forum life again ...for anyone who remebers me , my old name was suntan (i think !!!!) anyways its good to be back already met some nice people ...always loved a music post in introduced lods ofpeople to Passenger before he became a global star with let her go !! Oh, that's so sad. It's lovely that you've come back, though. And I cannot believe how amazing you look!
