Do you let part or all of your lawn go wild to encourage insect and bug life ?

Or do you keep it short and trim with a regular cut, and if so how often ?

Walking down the only road I've ever known!

Mine needs mowing once it drys and there's a wild patch at the bottom to keep the pussys out.

I’ve put some cows out to graze in the back garden. It’s a jungle out there

"Short and mow once a week "

Loving the old school hand mower in your avatar, they give a great cut if you keep the blades really sharp.

o o OO o o

I trim it irregularly.

I’d like to say it’s because I care about wildlife (which I do excluding spiders who are evil gits and the spawn of Satan) but it’s because my lawn mower is a bit ropey and my mum has a really awkward garden situation going on which makes it a royal pain in the ass to cut.

I recently got a great lithium battery strimmer that I use on hard to mow areas. Not as neat as a mower but keeps the grass down.

It is. And if you let the grass grow chuck in a few wildflower seeds too for colour and variety.

I let my whole garden grow wild for a while so I can watch the birds, butterflies and bees.

I get lots of butterflies

With so much rain, and the occasional hour of sunshine, my stinging nettle farm has flourished.

Nettle soup anyone?

Not today thanks Many butterflies lay eggs on nettles so I'm sure they helping encourage so many to your garden.

Keep that lawn trim, neat & tidy. Don’t want to encourage unwanted pests

Once a week seems to keep those little critters away

Preston

Mow the presentation areas, but leave plenty to be a wild meadow for the insects and biodiversity.
