Scalextric is one of my pet peeves, the X is BEFORE the C FFS! Not Scalectrix

Also American's and Solder... since when is that pronounced Sauter.....

It's an American thing. The British talk about Lego as if it's an over-all substance (like water), whereas the Americans refer to it as if each piece is called a Lego. Naturally, I think the British are right.
