Ages ago I posted about the problems I was having with my new kitchen.

(The painted surface was chipping off in numerous places).

I'm now in the process of taking them to small claims court.

They have totally denied the claim, and and have suggested (as is the next step in the court process) using the mediation service.

I am about to go ahead with this and I wondered if anyone had any experience or advice.

They have denied the claim because they feel they got an independent report that stated them not as fault.

We also commissioned an independent report that showed them to be at fault (from another company)

Any tips or advice would be useful, thank you.

I've done it once by phone call.

You explain your case to a mediator. They ask what you're prepared to settle on and what you're not.

They call the other side and do the same.

The mediator may then call you back to suggest another offer from the other side.

If you agree, that's the end of it. If not, you go on to court.

Mine was a while ago, so the process may have changed slightly - I don't think zoom calls were a thing back then.

I think they give us a certain amount of time for free, included ted in the small claims costs.

Id go to the first one and see whats on the table.

Remember its voluntary.

If you think your going to play ring around the roses which I think your going to be.

Then refuse mediation.

Really its a stalling tactic by the company going over old hat subjects that could have been sorted before court.

Just go with your evidence and stick to it.

? are you after repair or full money back.

As you will face this in court, So in mediation will you except this course of action.
