Apparently the word curry should be banned because it has colonial overtones according to a food blogger.

Lol -

Its either made up to stir up this divisive sort of shite - lets call some people a few names - leftie / woke / snow flake and all get a little bit more cross with others. Lets complain about the people who apparently live to get upset - and without any sense of irony

Or its an idiot saying something stupid. Surely repeating the words of idiots is also pretty questionable?

Some people say stupid things - why repeat it? Why give it life and make it seem bigger than it is.

Its not as if certain newspapers dont have a history of making things up is it? At least the made up Daily Sport headlines made people laugh - Double Decker Bus on the moon

It doesn't need to be served with rice, and makes no difference with or without meat as curry is just a dish a description of oriental food

I was generalizing which seems to be what this thread is about people that only deal in specifics vs people who are happy to call a bmw and a Merc cars without the fluff of adding German to it's description... and a chicken Korma is a British dish created on the Indian front during the war to hide the smell and taste of rotting meat.

If you asked a Japanese chef to translate the name of what we call a Kats curry he wouldn't use the word curry in the slightest.

I honestly think you'll find the opposite is true.

The media, directed by it's billionaire right wing owners, find these non-stories (one person said this) to foment the division they require to maintain their power.

By associating this sort of bollocks with the left, it means vast swathes of people continue to discount everything from the left. including the good stuff...

Plus, the media often simplify a nuanced discussion. The person did say "let's cancel the word curry" but then also went on to talk about how it's unhelpful an umbrella term covers a range of foods over a huge area. I'd imagine that some people would get frustrated if all spirits were call vodycar across the world. Who here enjoys Scottish vodycar?

One food blogger says this? Well that’s had the desired effect then hasn’t it: got the food blogger some coverage.

That is the beginning, middle and end of the story. It is of zero consequence.

There does seem to be way more loony left than sensible.

If I have to hear about how gender is a spectrum and a social construct but you can still segregate people based on sexual orientation (gay, straight, bi) I might have to backhand the person saying it lol.

Lgbt.. lesbian and gay are the same thing.. trans is not a sexual orientation it's a gender orientation... but the loony left try and clump them all together like it's alphabet soup

You mean they actually have good stuff?

I was thinking that lol bit I guess the whole nhs and social care is a "good thing" in principle

Oh the sensible stuff and not the looney left stuff

There does seem to be way more loony left than sensible.

If I have to hear about how gender is a spectrum and a social construct but you can still segregate people based on sexual orientation (gay, straight, bi) I might have to backhand the person saying it lol.

Lgbt.. lesbian and gay are the same thing.. trans is not a sexual orientation it's a gender orientation... but the loony left try and clump them all together like it's alphabet soup

Kinda like lumping lots of Asian food together and calling it curry ...

I presumed this was about the rugby player who ballsed up a try in the Lions match at the weekend "

Same.. I thought it was about his twin brother.. Ben....
