Whats the best/quickest way to break in a new pair of shoes?

I've got a lovely shiny new pair of Doc Martin shoes but the back of one rubs.

Usually I'd just persevere but wondered if any of you good people had any supertips

Put damp newspaper in the one that rubs then I think you freeze it?

I'm not 100% sure but buy yourself some moleskin it's made by Scholl to put on the heals of shoes I swear by it

Walking down the only road I've ever known!

You could try rubbing some dubbing on to try and make them softer.

a town called malice

Get either some rubbing alcohol ( no that’s not vodka) or some nikwax leather conditioner

With the later cut it 50/50 with water and apply liberally to both the inside and outside of the area this will soften the leather. If it is a single point then you can “stretch” that when the leather is soft using various cobblers tools

Pm if you need more help

You can get a padded heel sticker fir it or rub the inner but with Vaseline to soften it xx

I used to wear Dr Martens back in the day, best thing is to get them wet, and let them mould to the shape of your feet

Chams or Socials

Rub a candle on the inside & wear them a lot. I think I need to invest in a new pair….

Also, when they feel comfortable on you and they have dried out, as a poster above has said, give them a good dose of dubbin

What colour are they btw OP?

I'll add to the dubbin recommendations! I moved over to Solovairs a few years ago, haven't had to break them in.

Someone in the forum (sorry I can't remember your exact username ) suggested I get a pair of shoe stretchers. They have been a game change.

If it’s leather, use a hairdryer in a quite hot setting and try to press with your hands to sort of mould it and make it a bit softer x

The quickest..... ?

Simple ...... give them to a bloke who is three sizes bigger than you and make him totter like a geisha in them.

The best ....?

Put them on yourself and walk around in them.

Easiest solution ...... take em back ffs .... they don't fit.

Wear them when not walking, they should stretch out a bit to the size of your feet.

Docs in bed sounds fun

Op, buy a double layer walking sock!

Rub Vaseline into the area it catches then wear the socks. Then break ya boots in! Morning noon & night for a few weeks. Except when you have to go to work or shopping.

Simples - good luck!

Wear them and get them thoroughly soaked, so they are wringing wet. Clean them off and rub in some decent quality polish, put on some dry, thick socks and with loose laces, go for a walk. Adjusting the laces as you go.

Once dry, highly polish with a sylvet cloth.

Recently bought B some high heeled docs, they are sexy as fuck.

Xx

^^^He's here all week.

This is one bonus to rarely putting the soles of your shoes on the ground

It might sound a bit extreme but when I used to get the kids school shoes if the heel area rubbed them I'd cover then with a towel and give them a few light hammer blows to soften the area. It actually worked just don't go mental.
