Another vote for The Expanse, that is really good. Older shows I’d recommend - Babylon 5 was amazing too, and I’m a big fan of Quantum Leap. The reboot of Battlestar Galactica was pretty good too.

Well two entire worlds with his mixture of selfish arsehole and mad genius he's still like a lovable bafoon who you wanna go grab a strawberry milkshake with lol.... Guessing you've probably done Firefly but if not, do it.

I wish somebody would take on Stephen Baxter's Xeelee books. But it'll never happen, the concepts are too big and too unvisualisable. I mean when you've got conscious aliens made of dark matter the size of galaxies who exist on a completely different timescale, how do you put that on a 2D screen?

Walter was hilarious.

He’s the perfect character! Despite almost ending the world you empathise with him. And in the end he sacrifices to save it! But in sheer terms of character development Peter takes it. The Peter at the end of S5 is unrecognisable from the one in S1 and I loved seeing the development of Walter and Peter’s relationship!

I agree compleatly, I loved that Peters saying was always be a better man than your father growing up, but it turned out that being in each others life's made both of them better men. All of the characters where really well written and so multi dimensional

Deep Space Nine is my all time favourite of the franchise.

"Fringe" by J.J Abrahams isn't ,too bad. It started I think 2008 & concluded in 2013 (5 seasons.) Reminds me of X-Files a bit.

+1 For The Expanse. Easily the most sci-fi and scientifically accurate show around.

+1 for Altered Carbon, especially Season 1. Season 2 was a low point however. Now cancelled, sadly. Some very interesting ideas about trans-humanism. Would have like to see more on this.

For older stuff, Blakes 7. It defined the genre of Sci-Fi Soap Serials.

Westworld (The Reboot) on HBO is also pretty good. Season 1 is excellent, Season 2 dips a bit as I think they didn't expect to get that far, but happily Season 3 ups the ante again.

Omg where to start - ok . Loki DEFINITELY! Dark Matter, Dark, The Expanse, Altered Carbon (amazing) Farscape (old but good) Firefly, Westworld, Second Chance, Stranger Things, Fringe, Colony, Defiance, Falling Skies, Humans, Killjoys. Mars, Legion, The Man in the High Castle. Wayward Pines, Tripped (it is sci-fi). Dirk Gently's holistic Detective agency for a laugh. The Magicians is not Sci-Fi but its like a horror version of Harry Potter for adults lol.

Who ever mentioned "The Orville" made a great suggestion. I thought it wouldn't work but I've watched more Orville than the official Star Trek Discovery show! Its brilliant its like the Next Generation with gags, but the stories and acting do the show proud. I can't wait for the next season. Seth Mcfarlane wrote a real winner

Every Single recommendation by all the posters are pretty much pure gold Sci-Fi Enterainment!

A couple of unknown ones

Film - "The Hidden" with Kyle McLaughlin from Twin Peaks - its an 80's scifi horror. A criminal alien parasite takes over human hosts because the pleasure it feels from it is addictive, Especially when doing crimes etc.

Mr Robot although not stricly scifi is a must see - it does get into science fiction territory. Its a mind bending tour de force very much like Marvels "Legion"

Lifelong Trekkie here - there's no aspect of the franchise that I haven't enjoyed, so tbh I recommend it all!!

Fans of Quantum Leap will recognise the wonderful Scott Bakula in Enterprise, fans of Warehouse 13 will spot the incredible Kate Mulgrew ( Voyager) popping up in a story arc....

If you like xfiles there is a little known spinoff show called "the lone gunmen" in that show they predict 5won towers being attacked by planes before it happens.

I liked steins;gate for geeking out to, but it's a cartoon.

Loved Sci-fi from being a kid.

Go to authors are Asimov (obviously), Van Voight, Clarke, Heinlen, Windham, Wells, Burroughs, Dick, Silverburg, Zahn to name but a few.

T.V. series, well the one epic has to be Babylon 5.

Dark Skies was good from back in the 90's too.

The Expanse has been ace.

Tales From The Loop and Black Mirror have been excellent also.

Looking forward to Strange New Worlds when it eventually airs too.

Big Ray Bradbury, H P Lovecraft and Tolkien fan. Love old and new Star Trek, Farscape, Red Dwarf, the one season of firefly and the spin of movie Serenity. Love the first season of Altered Carbon but haven’t watched season 2. There loads more but some really good shout out by lovely fab members that have posted on here. I will definitely be adding some new films and programs onto my “to watch” list

Some already mentioned like.

Blakes 7 and Space 1999.

Doomwatch, The Survivors, Quatermass, The Triffids, Planet Of The Apes and of course Dr Who.

Love Doctor Who and Genesis of the Daleks is an amazing serial. Evil of the Daleks is my favourite, and I’m looking forward to the animated recreation later this year.

Dark matter but I want the other 2 series restarted again.

I cannot get into the expanse ive spent more time skipping it as it drags too much in parts.

lost in space season 3 starts soon though as it has finished filming in january 2021.

The Astronauts series be warned its a childrens one certainly a different take on the film space academy.

worth a watch though

Gosh, I did forget the most recent,The Mandalorian!

It has restored my faith in the Star Wars saga.

Loved Daisy Ridley's Rey but the story from seven through to nine was pants.

Mando has Ming Na Wen and Had Gina Carano my geek wank fodder...lol

I'm a big trekkie, watched all the series since hooked on TNG as a child but could never warm to Star Wars though thought episodes 2 and 3 of the prequels were good.

I see Star Trek as falling under Science Fiction but Star Wars as fantasy.

Abnett is a fantastic writer. I'd love to see a Gaunt's Ghost series. I'd be happy with Ravenor and Eisenhorn too.

"Fringe" by J.J Abrahams isn't ,too bad. It started I think 2008 & concluded in 2013 (5 seasons.) Reminds me of X-Files a bit.

Rick and Morty is genius in my opinion. It doesn't take it's audience for granted, is very intelligent and is not afraid to drop a fart or knob gag lol. I loved the episode when because of Morty and Summer's indecision it causes reality to split into several pieces - very clever and very funny.ppp

Final Space is good but isnt as near the knuckle or outright shocking but is still worth a watch.

Me and the Missus have got into Warrior Nun, Ash Vs The Evil Dead, Second Chance,Dark Matter, The Expanse (Marco Eneris IS Evil Personified) For Comedy you've got to see the film and series "What We Do In The Shadows" it's not science fiction just fantasy. Imagine a Mockumentry about different types of Vampires living in a shared house. Honestly

Black Mirror is genius and very dark.

Black mirror was great, I didnt think the kinda americanised series/seasons that where on Netflix was as good as the original channel 4 ones though. The Fifteen Million Merits episode(the one on bikes) is probably seared into my brain forever.

Saw the first and loved it, not seen season two so that good to know. Anyone seen Blame! Or Gants:0? Both great and Tokyo Ghoul good for the first two season. Death Note, the animation good as well

I'm working my way through the first season of Star Trek TOS.

I don't think I have re-watched these eps since the late 70s/80s. I am really enjoying just how good DeForest Kelly is as Dr McCoy....Oh, and the music cues and sound effects... Just take me right back...

I haven't got to that one yet! Last one I watched was,"Arena" with Kirk battling the Gorn on a rocky, desolate planet! I had found memories of that one!

I'm not sure if anyone has suggested Ultraviolet - a 90s British sci-fi/horror/thriller series about vampires in the modern day. It's played like a police procedural rather than Hammer Horror and it's brilliant. I was gutted that they didn't make a second series.

It's been on my shelf for years and I still haven't watched it... Jack Davenport is in it( Miles from, 'This Life). It's meant to be excellent. They did a US version IIRC which wasn't that great I understand...

I would love them to do a gaunts ghostnseriesnkn the style of band of brothers etc. Or maybe a wfb series about the end times. Had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Dan Abnett a couple of years ago at warhammer world in Nottingham. Genuinely nice guy with some great stories to tell.

That would be amazing. Netflix are making a Eisenhorn series are they not?

Issue is with the new Warhammer+ and what they have done to certain fan animators maybe put a stop to anything like that gaining mainstream appeal. My friends are not in to 40k but they very muched enjoyed Astartes, one even got into painting some marines But they wont sign up to a streaming service to watch it.
