My mum makes the best Scouse, but she's such a massive fan of cheese that if I think of a food to link to her that's what it would have to be. She could happily live on crumbly white Cheshire for the rest of her life.

As a kid , for me it was lamb chops cooked until fat was crisp, mashed potatoes,peas, carrots & mince sauce & gravy made from marmite and bisto thickener.

A lot of different meals and cakes etc. My sister who was 12 years older than me. Had cancer. So my mum every fortnight went to stay and look after sisters children. Took in turns with sisters husband mum. My dad could only cook fry ups. So I was taught by my mum to cook.Really had enough of bacon eggs type of meals.Then took over cooking dinners etc while mum at sisters. Must say . I now can cook roasts etc. Even cooking years ago when I was married . Christmas dinner for eight.

Apple pie is the first thing that comes to mind, although she cooked all sorts and did it all well. Used to love the Cornish pasties she did with flaky pasty…sooooo good!

Most Sundays she would be baking something and there was ALWAYS a proper Sunday dinner.

When I think of my ex mother in law I remember her making spaghetti bolognese and she served it without spaghetti or any kind of pasta... just bolognese.

She also over cooked veg for her Sunday dinners and it always amazed me how she could turn cauliflower from white to taupe
