What horror characters from films/tv haunted your dreams in childhood (or not lol)

Ive got 3 in mind:

- FREDDIE KRUEGER. I was forced to watch the film and literally refused to sleep for days after as I didn’t want to fall asleep and die in a horrible way

- STEPHEN’s KING IT. I mean, terrifying!!

- The GENTLEMEN from Buffy in season 3 who stole the voices and were after human hearts. I also couldn’t sleep after watching that episode.. I remember being in Barcelona at the time (I might have been 10 lol) and I was watching Buffy in Spanish (couldn’t understand a word) and it terrified me lol

The first character that scared the shit out of me was the child catcher from chatty chatty bang bang! Still get a tingle when I see him now.

Other than that, the creature in Salem’s Lot, and Sam Neill’s character in Event Horizon, scared me shitless that film!

Nosferatu, the original black and white film. The character is far removed from the urbane, charming vampire that we normally see in films and is a complete monster.

The rhymes of those films was interesting.

The Freddy Krueger nursery rhyme: One, two, Freddy's coming for you. Three, four, Better lock your door Five, six, grab a crucifix. Seven, eight, Gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, Never sleep again.

Now swap that to a tooth fairy.

On the night they lose their last baby tooth,

This ones special your last baby tooth means your not a baby anymore.

Remember when the tooth fairy comes dont peak.

placing your tooth under your pillows.

Chucky - couldn’t have dolls after that

The original clown from I.T (I was 8 when I watched this, still have a fear of clowns)

The spiky headed guy from hell raiser (never watched enough to catch his name)

I can’t place where this came from but China dolls, I had quite a few and my mum said one day I just didn’t like them, they had to be put in the loft.

The one that gave me nightmares was not a horror character, it was Charles Laughton’s portrayal of Quasimodo , I was very young and staying with my great aunts who we’re watching it on their telly, I found it horrifying I be went to Paris when I was about 11 and didn’t want to visit Notre Dame in case he was in there

The Tooth Fairy in Darkness Falls was originally supposed to be a big winged monster that would have a huge mouth full of teeth but it was scrapped as they thought it would be pointless not showing the creature until the end so they opted for what I call Freddy Krueger in a dress.

Not exactly a character but the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the lost Ark when it was opened was terrifying as a kid when it wipes out all the Nazis including Belloq, Dietrich and Toht in horrifying ways.

I liked American werewolf in London, though it did scare me as a kid.

There's a werewolf film called "silver bullet", based on a Stephen King story. That scared me a lot. The performances in it are great though. There's a scene in it set on a bridge in the middle of the night, that still scares me, from it. Werewolves in general scared me as a kid.
