Back where I belong

So sorry, mine is still with me. Literally, she moved in 4 years ago and at the age of 80 is still going strong, although the memory wanders off quite often x

8 years for me, she’d have loved to see her granddaughter follow in her footsteps and graduate as a nurse last year.

Well my mum lives in the states but from time to time it feels like she has passed.

But the first thing when I think of my mum is "I hope I don't disappoint her".

I know I don't just how I think alot of the time. The joys of living with depression make others happy while you constantly battling with yourself.

My Mum is very poorly at the moment, but she keeps fighting on

She's 82, a couple of months shy of 83

She told me last night she's not ready to lie down and die yet

So, whilst I'm wrecked with worry, I'm also proud that she ain't no quitter

All 4ft9 of her

Her knitting, patience and cheery disposition.

We grew up with the comforting sound of constant clicking in our household.

As a result of her perseverance working on most complex items both myself and my sister are very creative often picking up challenging projects. We have tried and can turn our hands to a great many different crafts and for that I will be eternally grateful.

Being creative often helps us on black dog days and got us both through the last 18mths.

Creativity was my mums parting gift x

What a lovely thread. Loving all the replies

I remember my Mum's laughter and her wicked sense of humour

Baking, she was always baking when I was a child, that was my happy place sat at the kitchen table waiting to be passed the spoon and the bowl

A fighter, she always fought my corner whether I was right or wrong, she had my back always.

I just miss her, lost her 5 years ago and it's been hard without her

We live with my mum.

I still imagine my mum as the working two jobs, fiesty firecracker that she was. But daily I see how her health is letting her down, how much more doddery she is getting. I know that one day the time will come that she won’t be there to listen to my moans, telling me to get a grip or asking me to pop the kettle on for her 25th cup of tea, bemoaning the fact I’ve put too much milk in. Getting me to answer the door thrice weekly to the Amazon delivery as she “wants to make the most of her Amazon Prime account”, or unpacking the shopping and wondering why there is one solitary apple instead of a bag because her internet shopping needs a bit of work. That all scares me.

My mum is my rock, and I will be lost without her.

My Mam was lovely in every way and always put her children first. I’m number six and was lucky enough to have been taught so many things by my Mam, she was a fabulous baker and whenever I’m baking, using her rolling pin or her flour scoop I remember her. This thread has brought back so many happy memories so I’m going to make a lemon meringue pie and think of my Mam as I do it

"Morning all thinking of my mum she passed 12 years ago my one regret is she never seen her gran kids what's yours "

Thanks for including us dude.

My mum was unfussy, genuine, no drama, told it how it was, always supportive but always said you deal with consequences of your actions. One of the nicest people on the planet. Miss her so very much and really could do with her now as everything is a mess.

She would sing the wrong words to Rancid and misfits songs while cleaning. She put up with a load of shit she shouldn’t have because she was committed to her three boys who she was really proud of. Not recovered since she died.

Wishing I could spread as much happiness as she did.

I’m really sorry to hear your mum didn’t get to meet your grandkids. Please accept a virtual goth hug xxx
