"What's the difference between a supercharger and a tturbo ? i think a supercharger enriches the fuel mix after the fuel. leaves the carburetta. a turbo uses the exhaust fumes (which are at a higher temperature) following combustion to reinject an air mix to the fuel line and raise the amount of airated diesel being burned. obviously im not a mechanic. also i dont think you get a turbo on petrol engines..... " both turbo and superchargers do the same job, that is to force air into the engine, its easy to get fuel in, you just squirt in more, but it needs to be at the right air/fuel mix to burn, so for more power a turbo/supercharger forces more air in, more than the engine would normaly suck in,so both give more power, and both can be used on diesel or petrol.

"Superchargers work better at lower engine speeds. Turbos need higher engine speeds to operate properly in an ideal system vehicles would have both with the turbo cutting in as the supercharger reaches the end of its power band." believ the new vw diesel engine has this arrangement also the lancia delta s4 ran a super and turbo charged 2.0 engine that was able to produce in exess of 700bhp which gave it linea acelaration .the rollsroyce merlin & griffon engines used in the spitfire hurricane lancaster and others were supercharged
