Who is the best/favourite stand up?

Not very original or out there but I would have to pitch for Billy Connolly

Always liked Dave Allen although he was more sitdown than standup.

Best ever was my mate Tom Ryan though, who never troubled TV or mainstream media but was the funniest fucker I ever knew. Great musician too and none of ya ever heard of him.

TV personalities make you giggle. Tom made me fall of a balcony screaming with laughter.

Billy was a trailblazer for sure.

I am loving watching Kevin Bridges stuff at present but the funniest man ever is Bill Burr.

Doug Stanhope - brilliant, controversial yet moral

I’ve seen him live and been in shock at some of the things he’s managed to make funny and thought provoking.

His routine on the stupidity of national pride is geniusz

In his heyday, which was a long time ago, was Bob Hope; although in later life he lost his edge.

He had a fantastic team of writers; a very large team

Another comedian from the vaudeville circuit was the incomparable Phil Silvers.

Bob Monkhhouse was a master of analysis and preparation, but for me he was too contrived.

On an Irish context Ardal O'Hanlon is witty and Dermot Morgan was Very controversial and was taken off air because of Scrap Saturday.

Jackieason was an amazing Jewish comedian.

Good old Billy Connolly whose words of wisdom apply to a few on this site. Quote: They should consider getting themselves an agent as it would save them having to handle themselves all the time! And for those who don't like Bill remember what he said to one bunch of hecklers, "Who paid to get in here, you or me?"

Sarah Millican is jusssst fabulous - seen her live a couple of years ago and going again later this year

Jimmy Carr is very funny … feel bad for laughing sometimes because he’s so inappropriate! I like John Bishop too. My dad loved Jim Davidson and Les Dawson so I can’t help but like them. I’ve seen Chubby Brown a few times … once sat on the front row

Not this lady. I don't find her funny. I really find her irritating from her squeaky voice to her faux simpleton act.... so unfunny. Just the kind of woman you'd like to stuff in a bag of Oxfam clothes cos she'd be totally indiscernible in there.

Market Harborough/ Kettering

Comedy is the same as music, people have varying tastes so what one person finds funny another wouldnt. Personally I find Ricky Gervais the unfunny person ever but millions like him? The only people that have really made me laugh out loud are Mickey Flanagan, Jethro (If you can understand what he's saying) and Al Murray.

He described himself as a failed accountant!
