When I went shopping I paid extra for the spaghetti. Now I'm wondering how much better will it taste and if it was worth the extra!

Do you buy alternative brands at the supermarket?

Do you always stick to brand names.

Can you tell the difference between brands?

Lidl and Aldi have made a big difference, for things I like I always try their brands and compare to name ones. Some things there's no different like rice, pasta, etc but tea and coffee aren't as good, to my taste.

I think J.S beans (normal not light) are much nice than Heinze's! A J.S beans 6 pack is much cheaper and nicer!

I have to admit to sometimes buying loads of crap but it's not for me.

I'm not a big fan of the freezer, things tend to go in and not come back out.

I worked years ago for a packaging machine company. Went to a company that supplied frozen veg to major supermarkets. As others have said. Products were being weighed , bagged. All that happened was once production run done for one supermarket. Bags changed and then next production run started. No change in actual product.

Depends what it is. I was always a Heinz person but prefer Tesco’s ketchup and beans now. Cereal has to be Kellogg’s, own brands are nowhere near. Mayo has to be Hellman’s. I’ll try stuff but if I don’t prefer it I’ll stick to branded.

This is me with beans. I've been buying a supermarket own brand but it just wasn't the same. My granddaughter loves so I've gone back to heinz.

Generally not for cooking as I make everything from scratch so there are not choices, but exceptions are olive oil, tomato purée, pesto , rice, olives and coffee as the brands I want are tasty and generally not in major supermarkets . The only difference with pasta is the brands do more choices like linguine and tagliatelle, so for white penne I get cheap kilo bags from Asda but for whole meal I get Sainsbury’s organic.

Other stuff branded washing powder for whites because of course it makes whites whiter …. but unbranded Wilko laundry liquid for everything else

Generally I do buy branded things. Although I did buy Sainsbury’s Kansas bbq sauce which was nice. I also buy their herbs and spices in the glass jars

Oh ok it is good to have plenty of choice.

Where I live we not far from every supermarket.

Mind you I'd swap that for somewhere to live by the sea or such
