"Probably some sort of scam. We had one the other day asking about PPI...I asked who he worked for and he said The ministry of Justice. They work to a script and if you ask questions they cock up like that one. I play with them, let them give their spiel and then say my mum isn't in." That was so weird, you already typed this but when I clicked to comment, it came up that you had removed it I like that, my mum isnt it, Okay claims are the worst at the moment, have sent them an email and told them to stop harassing me

"My latest ruse that I came up with yesterday... As soon as they started speaking I gave a speech about the data protection act, then proceeded to ask for their address, date of birth etc.... caused massive confusion on their script " yes especially when they are not really called Mark or Jonathan as they are not English

"We never answer our landline, it goes straight to answerphone. If they leave a message we can decide if we want to speak to them. They rarely do though." I had noticed that, get like 10-15 voicemails per day so I just delete on block now and don't listen to them

"I get these all the time and i just say to them that i recording the call, with that they put the phone down. No bank contacts you in that way ever. Lloyds have given me a web site that i can send all e-mails direct to them to follow them up. The worst one i get and its constant is someone claiming that they are from "Mirco-soft" you have to be on the ball with this, and it is an unfortunate situation where they target the elderly...... " Ah that rings a bell, I am sure he mentioned microsoft yesterday, bugger, wished I had listened instead of getting bored

A big hats off though to the nice British woman that rang and asked had I received my PPI back and when I said yes, she said okay thanks, have a lovely evening and goodbye, we need more like her

"I do not answer the landline phone unless it rings after 21:00h as I know it will be my mum ringing me. On my mobile phone, I never take a call from an unknown number. If the caller wants to get hold of me, he/she will have to leave a message on my voicemail. " And of course not return voicemails I cannot tell if it is an unknown number as I don't have a display one but have family stuff today so needed to take calls, plus my friend might ring

"If you think it might really be your bank and not a scam, give them slightly wrong details. Your bank will know, a scammer won't. Say your birthday right apart from month wrong, or say Street instead of Avenue etc. The sad thing is the scammers must be making some money from it or they'd just give up and sod off." I don't think it is my bank as he says he is from Microsoft. When he told me the first 4 digits from the bank card that is supposed to be the one used, I just said it wasn't mine and didn't (and wouldn't) give him mine

"We never answer our landline, it goes straight to answerphone. If they leave a message we can decide if we want to speak to them. They rarely do though." Same here. My landline is only know by a handful of people and is primarily there to allow broadband access, so anyone ringing on it is either making random sales calls, or scams. Sad world when you have to protect yourself with something as simple as your home phone..
