What colour do you prefer your toast?

1 being just shown the toaster and 10 being a coal miners sandwich.

Which is your preference?

I mean I’m closer to 10 than I am to 1. You may as well just have bread if it’s 1

Breadless, you are overlooking the purpose of the toast.

To dip into a delicious Summer soup, toast only need the slightest firmness on it's surface and the depth of toastiness need only be discernable by the tounge and not the eye.

To dip into a boiled egg the toast must be just past golden, almost a David Dickinson as it requires a certain firmness to withstand a buttering and a dipping.

In order to support something as sturdy as a 100% prime beef quater pounder the toast should have the glow of a treacle toffee and the 'give' of a firm pillow used for humping throughout your teen years.

My toaster misses the top of the bread and has a setting knob which goes between untoasted & burnt, without anything in between.

People often mistake the general consensus on the toaster knob. It’s actually how long in minutes on most toasters that the bread stays in it for.

The Facility

For the last two years my toaster has been pretty much doing whatever it likes on the level of toastyness scale regardless of where I place the dial so, anything less than eight but more than four is welcome.

I refuse to buy a new one because it still works, it's just one more surprise in the day.

Years ago, I think it was Morphy Richards who had radio ads running for toasters with "golden brown" as the song. They completely missed the connotations!

(I just tried posting this with the name of the band and got a big red pop-up message saying that I cannot post about such subjects)
