I don't really trust people on Internet. There are probably 2 people on here who have extensive knowledge of my outside fab life atm and I shall keep it that way. Its easier if you have met someone and that holding back of trust can get some release.

In real life again I am very careful. But my gut usually whispers good things to my friends search inner tool.

I believe in the essential decency of human nature until proved otherwise. I've been lucky and not been damaged badly by other people so it's not hard to hold this view.

Basically this. But with some latitude on 2nd chances. We all make mistakes sometimes. Only human.

Impossible to go through life trusting absolutely nobody. A healthy dose of scepticism never dies any harm, and we all learn from experience as we ago.

I place my trust in people daily in small ways eg I trust the barista to make me the coffee I ask for

I trust Mr N implicitly and our children.

In many ways though I am very wary of who I place my trust with in important matters

As they used to say on the ex files trust no one or keep friends close but keep enamies closer. I trust no one but give everyone the opertunity to hang themselvs given inough rope. Sadly 9 out of ten people ive ever met fail the test and show they canot be trusted

This is a lovely way of putting it. I'm a very private person and compartmentalise most on here, only a handful know anything about me, even fewer anything more. I don't and won't stop trusting people though. It's nice when you have confirmation of that trust.

Trust is earned, and there's a wide spectrum of things within "trust". I give people basic trust initially - then as I get to know them, I might give them more, or less.

For example, after a social meet in a public place, I might trust someone not to murder me on the next meet, so I'd go somewhere private with them. But would I trust them with my most intimate life details? Definitely not.

I hear this a lot, like there's no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners etc. Personally I don't agree. I have shared my life with 5 dogs now and every single one had an utterly different personality- just like people do which is hardly surprising given that we are animals. Of course being treated badly, a bad upbringing and traumatic events affect animals - exactly as they do humans but I'm sure that just like humans some are nasty little shits for no other reason than that is the genes they have.

I trust people to be people. We all make mistakes and all screw up, we're also good at some things and not others. My best mate is a guy I'd trust with my life holding my ropes while I climb (a trust well earned). This is a job I would only trust her ladyship with to a very slight degree, not because I think she wants me dead but because I know her level of expertise. On the other hand, I trust her with my heart. I guess trusting others ultimately comes down to trusting yourself. If you don't trust your own assessment of another person you don't know whether you can trust them, whether that's your assessment of their ability to do a particular job or your assessment of their ability to deserve your trust.

I’m a great people watcher and trust is given from the outset… it’s up to them to keep the trust going. As once it’s broken it’s gone.

There’s a true friend on here that knows more about me than some of my closet friends I’ve served with. And some of those guys are so much in my life they have keys to my house and I’d tryst them with my daughters life.

Totally agree with Gatsby ... I treat everyone as I like to be treated. That means I trust everyone who I meet, and like, to a point equally ... trust can be built on in time or can be taken away where necessary. But you have to have a starting point!

I once flew to a foreign country, hired a car and drove to a train station to meet someone. I didn't know their surname or where they lived, just had a phone number....

Sometimes you have to take a leap, albeit a calculated one. It turned out pretty well by the way and continues to improve on a daily basis..... Sometimes you just "know" you can trust someone.

But society as a whole is broken, people have too much self interest, with self interest comes the unlikelihood of any trust.
