Loss of confidence

My mum went from being reasonably well in late May and passed away on June 9th. We were extremely close and had knocked my confidence. I used to be shy but bubbly but now have lost confidence in chatting in rooms or message. This is not a sympathy message I just need to snap out of it according to people I know

You're going to be grieving you don't just snap out of it and the people who say that should be ashamed of themselves.

Maybe look at getting some counselling to help you come to terms with your loss

You're possibly still grieving and that takes time OP. Anyone who tells you to snap out of it or isn't understanding of that? Don't listen to them. Sorry for your loss.

Ah sorry to hear that OP. Like others have said, grief isn’t something you snap out of. Take your time and be kind to yourself. It’s an old chestnut but it gets easier with time.

Sorry for your loss.

It's going to take time for you to deal with it. Especially a sudden loss.

Don't put pressure on yourself and make yourself feel more down about not being in the headspace to message etc. Just take your time.

If people tell you to snap out of it just forgive them.

Not everyone is a therapist or knows how to cope with those that are grieving.

Most who tell you to 'snap out of it' will be saying it with a good heart, thinking that they want to help you to get back to your old self. Try to see them for the good people they are.

Grieving isn't linear. It doesn't get less every day and it doesn't ever go away ...... it's more like a roller coaster.......

There will come a time when it doesn't take up so much of your day and one day you will begin to say all the fun things about her and you will smile but you will never forget her. Why should you.

I’m so sorry for your Loss OP, but I don’t think death is something we ever come to terms with…. I lost my dad over 2 years ago and I think if him every day…. I still cry for how much I miss him….. I always try to think that he’d be happy I’m living and carrying on my life and I go and sit at his grave and talk to him….. remember death is a memory no one can heal, live is a memory no one can steal xxx

Our condolences.

.

There is nothing to "snap out of" and it annoys me when people say this to others.

.

You are in a period of grieving. This affects your mood and the chemicals in your brain. They have been rewired.

.

Take each day as it comes. Seek whatever fleeting moments of distraction you can. New pathways to finding your equilibrium will emerge over time. Some pathways will reopen, others may not, or not as fully as they used to. This is ok. This is a healing process, and you are still healing.

Do not allow others to rush you. Find your own healing speed.

Losing your mum is very difficult it affects you in ways you don’t expect, until you’ve lost a parent people just understand how difficult it is. Don’t be hard on yourself, it takes time.

When I look back, it took me around 4 years to really mourn the loss of my mum.
