Just had all my messages blocked because I mentioned the name of a website in a private message to a guy. Wasn't advertising, or trying to get them to look at anything. Just blocked. Thought that was a bit harsh.

Glasgowish

Sounds harsh. Maybe a warning would have been sufficient so you do not do it again.

Last time I mention the name of a photo sharing website that girls get lots of followers on (not naming anything). And there's been entire threads in here naming a certain video sharing site and people's favourite content creators!

You'll probably get this removed for questioning the great and powerful Oz

That's a bit much in a private message

The Town by The Cross

It's in the rules.

No websites other than the permitted ones.

It's not harsh. It's to keep control of what is passed around for which the site owners would be responsible.

Its in the rules.......

If it was in private then I don't see what the problem was.

The system is set up to automatically block website mentions in private chat....

Post in my local feed saying the same thing happened. Must be an automated system now.

Can see where they're coming from with all the spammers that have appeared.

It's not only removing the mention but also stopping them from sending any further messages.

"If it was in private then I don't see what the problem was."

You get spammers messaging guys telling them to sign up for their paid accounts elsewhere, that's the problem.

That makes perfect sense now!

Little old innocent me forgets these things. And it's actually quite comforting to know there's protection from all that spam. Thanks for pointing that out
