How do you even work out if a horse can dance or not?

Is it looks?

Do they just play music and what it does?

They just see if it's hot to trot

North Bucks

The look

The movement

The responsiveness.

And a trainable temperament.

I have spent many a day watching Dressage shouting out a test. I can’t stand the bloody thing.

Give me x country any day.

Oh I don't disagree. Me and the housemate were just flummoxed as to where you'd even start with training a horse like that.

It takes a lot of hard work and training...the rider looks like they aren't moving but they are communicating every movement to the horse

I think they have to do certain movements and sequences, it's not for me but you can't say it isn't elegant

Chams or Socials

It’s a lot of hard work - my ex’s cousin is an equestrian & Olympic judge (I’m not remotely interested in horses through)

It takes years of training, starting with simple movements, honing and exagerating, its a gradual process. Setting a display to music is a skill.

Horses will display many of the floating and elevated movements naturally when they are excited, in a field, in high spirits, for example,no human intervention needed.

Its all about precision. Your circles have to be perfect circles, and your trot should begin and end right on the letter. There is a bit of an art to the choreography, getting the right music for the horse and its movements. You normally have to include a set number of different movements and the execution of these is what gets marked (amongst other things) Bored yet?

Years and years and years of training.

You can be in charge of music selection.

I used to compete dressage at locals level. To begin with I wasn’t overly bothered…however it is satisfying when it all comes together. Depending upon the competition and level you are given a prescribed routine or particular movements to be completed within routine.

You are judged on presentation, accuracy, movement, gaits, transitions.
