"Mindfulness is one of those things where you need to keep at it. Like a mind gym session. I need to eat better and exercise more. Again, long term fixes. Quick fix for a bad day - I find walking and music help. " You need to practice a positive mind. Agreed.

"There is a mindfulness course coming up on Future Learn. It's free. Check it out I also use Headspace app regularly. But I'm sure there are free resources around too. " Love headspace Andy’s voice helps put me to sleep

"Music has always been my best therapy. Instant mood changer, especially something that was playing when good times were being had previously whether that be out with friends/family. A certain song from a holiday or a track that you've had sex too. Anything that takes your mind from the present to the memory of a good time." As long as its a good memory trigger! I find myself occasionally reorganising my playlists. On that note I found singing and dancing helpful. Apart from the emotional joy, I believe it has to do with movement and good breathing positive effect too

And yes I agree dancing along ( even though I cant dance ) and movement also add to a better mindset.

"When you're having a particularly bad mental health day what tips or tricks* do you practise to try and drag yourself back up to a point where you can function again? *I don't think I mean tricks but my brain isn't working today " There are some good apps that are helpful, you need to find what you enjoy that will help with relaxing and lifting the mood. Meditation is good but not everyone likes this, I personally don't but many swear by it. Music is good but it has to be upbeat and lifts you up. Cycling, walking or running are all good ways to inclease endorphins that make us feel good. Sometimes working out what is affecting the mood and dealing with it also am option. Thinking about you, it's never easy when your trying to lift the spirits but know your not alone and reaching out to someone to chat an help

"Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts here with myself and others. I can normally fight off my demons, but every so often they just sneak up and ambush me when I'm not looking and then nothing I do seems to work so it has helped to see how others cope or manage their own demons. It can be a very lonely, scary place inside your own head at times. Sending a heartfelt hug "
