First solo roadtrip!

Hi all!

So today I am renting a car and driving on my first ever road trip! First time driving myself and I am SUPER nervous but excited!!

(Just picked up the car and got a cheeky wee upgrade too which was a wee bonus!)

Was curious what other people enjoy while on roadtrips; are you a music or podcast fan or do you enjoy just sticking on the radio? Are there any wee traditions you do or things you take when you set off on a long journey? Any particular landmarks/pitstops you tend to stop and enjoy?

I always associate Sports Mixtures with long drives as that's what my dad used to snack on when we took long family drives!

Will reply to comments when I can but excited to hear what you forumites have to share

I love a Roadtrip! So jealous...My son lives in Edinburgh so just love to drive up there. Playlist ready, snacks.

As for stop offs, Tbay Services is a must, it has a farm shop and local coffee and a duck pond to enjoy

Love a road trip!

It’s always tunes for me… and singing along whether I’m alone in the car or not.

Throw in a stop or two on the way and I’m good

Roadtrips for me usually include taking a racecar somewhere, so I've got my mates with me to talk shite and generally take the piss out of eachother..... The best times

Roadtrips are amazing! I hope you're having a brilliant time and blasting out all the power anthems.

When I was at uni I used to frequently drive from Lancashire to Aberdeen and stop at Tebay services (and to see a friend) along the way. My playlist was either proper stereotypical anthems or musical numbers that were belted out. I avoided drinking caffeinated drinks because I'd have to stop aaaaall the time and just stick to sparkling water. Mints are a good shout, as is an easy access change of clothes in case you need to end up stopping somewhere.

My favourite road trips are the ones that involve Winchester mainly because I can stop at Gloucester services and spend half my salary on overpriced drinks and baked products and cheese. Plus there are some beautiful people in that part of the land.

Always music for me, great to have a break from the world of news, etc. Good to allow time for a couple of stops at interesting places along the way, or just stop when you see a town or landmark which catches your eye. A mix of planning and spontaneity works for me.

Have a safe and happy journey !

I can relate to that, Hill Climbs in the summer from Wiscombe Park in the South to Doune in the North, and Sporting Trials in the Winter from Kent in the South to Cumbria in the North, Lots of road trips there. Happy days.

Love a good road trip! Always has to be some tunes blasting out. Quite frequently drive to Germany (or did ) but have had some truly memorable stop offs all over Europe. Hope we can get back to that eventually.

Oooooo you're the second person to mention those services...I'll have to make sure and stop there! Baked goods and cheese are the best choice! YUMMY!
