So is the rant about the loss of your job or about how you specifically were made to feel by a member of your local Job Centre staff ?

I think the job centre are used to dealing with people who don't want to work. It doesn't give them the right to treat everyone like that though. Some of them are stuck up.

I was out of work for like 1 month tops in early 2009. Got made redundant and was lucky enough to find another job so soon. However, had to sign on maybe once more twice.

Went in about 40 mins early for my time(very punctual) and got taken to a waiting area. Time went by so I asked someone and they directed me to this woman at a desk who then moaned at me for being 20 minutes late!

They'd sat me in one area and called my name out in an entirely different area. Thing is she wouldn't listen not even to the guy who'd made the balls up even though he was telling her it was his fault! I think some of them give the illusion that they are 'better than you' when really they are thick as fuck and don't listen properly.

Been there, done that...realised it's a defence mechanism for them! They spend nearly all day dealing with twats, so they treat everyone else the same, regardless!

I went to the careers office today (bizarrely, for a 46 y/o)...because I'm not on benefits, have some qualifications and don't have learning difficulties, I was entitled to one 30 minute appointment. Fortunately the guy was OK and gave me all the info I required about full time Uni and funding available in the time allotted.

more north lincs than mids!

Sorry to hear you have lost your job.

When I go to sign on I don't really pay attention to how they speak to me. What they do at the Job Centre must be monotonous and you can see for yourself the amount of dossers who wander about outside. I know that if I was having to deal with them on a daily basis I would lose my friendliness quite quick.

Chin up, remember they are only doing a job to someone else's rules and don't take it to heart.

Good luck in finding a new position.

Losing your job after so long must be a scary and uncomfortable place.

I hope you turn things round quickly, but don't just take the first thing that comes along through fear of being unemployed.

Job Centre staff are 'coached' in maintaining impersonal relationships with clients. It is not personal or specific to you, but I can understand why you might feel that way.

Concentrate your efforts on getting yourself back in regular work and as for the rest, just smile your way through it.

Good Luck

Everything you have said is very true. I was twenty mins early for my interview and was seen half an hour after my interview time but what really got my back up is the way i was spoken to lol. She spoken to me like i was a child I have worked for twentyseven years with no breaks and she made me feel so small because ive been laied off xx
