Amy Winehouse, Ten Years On

Ten years today we lost beautiful, bold Amy Winehouse. Gone way, way too soon.

For me she's one of the modern greats, a unique singer and brilliant, brutally honest lyricist and songwriter.

Any memories of Amy live or any favourite songs ?

The 10 years has passed by so quickly but her songs are quite timeless.

She had an amazing old school jazz sensibility and feel in her vocals. Quite unique for such a young person.

From what I've seen and read her troubles were rooted in family issues, but becoming a big star so young and so quickly didn't help her cope, for sure.

The Guardian recently voted ‘Love is a losing game’ as it’s number one of her back catalogue. It’s certainly my favourite of an artist I’ve never warmed to.

Very talented as a writer and singer. RIP

Yes, the film Amy shows that coincidence of huge public fame with private breakdown, although I believe she had gotten over her worst drug issues when she passed.

I'm sure she would have continued to grow and dazzle as an artist given more time.

Yes, it’s unfair to blame Blake. In the film Amy she clearly doesn’t want the pressure and constant media attention thats slowly killing her, and retreats to Jamaica but even there her management insist she does interviews. That’s what killed her, she just wanted to make music and be left alone. Look at the kind of bullshit she had to put up with and how uncomfortable it made her with because her management saw the potential ££££

She was lovely, funny and i remember complimented me on the shoes I was wearing.

She had problems, we all do and we deal with them in different ways. Unfortunately the help she needed wasn't as available as it would be now and she was used as a cash cow by the many because of her incredible talent.
