Cambridgeshire

I'm stuck in London and can't get back... after a gig, ended up drinking looong into the night with one of the band's. Was in no fit state to go in, called in and left a voicemail and had a guy shout out something rather inappropriate from the background. Whoops.. Mrs.

Stockport

Having had an emotional breakdown at work and very loudly telling the boss (the company owner) to go fuck himself, in front of all the other employees, then storming out... I went home, next day emailed in saying that I'd had a breakdown because reasons x, y and z, and that I was going to try get the help that I obviously needed.

Boss told me to take whatever time required on sick leave, see the doc, try to get lots of rest, come back when I was well again...

Um, what was the question? I think that I've only ever taken sick time when I was so physically or mentally fucked that working was essentially impossible.

Manchester (she/her)

I've only called in sick when I was actually sick.

But the most embarrassing one was, phone only call in, needed cover - laryngitis, couldn't talk. Had to get mummy to do it

Only done it once which I used to go for a job interview. I would've used an annual leave day but already used one for another interview and as we were still in January I didn't want to waste them in case I didn't get either of the jobs

Yup I've done that! Completely lost my voice, agony to try and talk so I had to write the info down for my mum to call and tell them

Same here, I've always rocked up, but sometimes got sent home, on full pay, cos they knew I was under the weather

I stupidly rang in & said I'd a tummy bug... It was alcohol related... Anyway...that afternoon my party mate calls & says hey let's go out for a liquid lunch...Didn't take much to twist my arm...Lottsa pics were taken & unbeknownst to me were posted on FB with me tagged in them...All for my Boss to see as he was a FB friend... The cringe was unreal when I discovered Sat morning...I managed to get away with it somehow without a warning

Not so much as excuse . I was on 12 hour nights . Woke up for night shift. Saw one of my fish tanks looked low water . Within less than fifteen minutes realised tank had major leak. Phoned company to say not coming in, due to leak / flood . Did get questioned by company . But when I explained that fish tank actually held over 200 gallons understood. My main concern was the fish. One to replace would cost minimum £250. I had purchased the one in tank for £20.

Yes as I had another tank. The fish I mentioned about live for about another ten years in replacement tank . With others that saved although most did not live that time

Damn social media

Technically I was caught out twice that day and blatantly too! The 2nd way will remain undisclosed though
