I certainly think it can affect your perception of people, same as any dating sites.

I've definitely found that I've needed to step back before, because I was craving the attention in an unhealthy way.

I'm rambling, but yeah, it can certainly fuck with your head

I very much agree with the last bit !

I think it's an OK place if you're stable and sorted, potentially a minefield if you aren't and have stuff happening that's better discussed with a therapist.

I mean the community can say supportive things sure but ultimately unless you know somebody for real, that support is just pixels on a screen.

When your in a bad place mentally, not a lot is good for you as you can focus on things a little too much. It's hard to seperate good things and bad so naturally you think the things you are most involved in are effecting your mood. You also have no patience or tolerance for things so the smallest annoyance for someone else might be massive for you.

In terms of self confidence and self esteem, I don't think fab can be good for your mental health. If your comparing yourself to others, feeling bad about yourself or looking for validation, it's time to take a break.

Generally though, there are some lovely supportive people on here who can be a great support if needed. Otherwise, always make sure you talk to someone. Hope your okay OP.

couple, us we him her.

It can go one of two ways OP.

It can be very bad for confidence and image.

But it can also be very supportive, lots of people joke on threads and take the piss.

But when someone is genuinely struggling I've witnessed the best of people.

So don't loose faith OP.

And please share if you want there's some good listener's on here.

Sadly just like many social media platforms you have to develop a thick skin.

Sadly

Fab can be a double edged sword for your mental health but it's also been the only place I can explore and discover what my true sexuality is without judgement

I view it as a game, not an accurate reflection of real life. Bit like Jumanji - every so often something pops up from nowhere and totally shocks you.

If I struggle I delete my profile and return when I am in a better place

Fab can absolutely kick the shit out your mental health. It think it's especially deleterious for single men, who are a) pretty much worthless in the Fab ecosystem, and b) not typically equipped to deal with negative emotions in a safe and healthy manner.

I like the genuinely single ones ! (Apologies men )

My anxiety and depression is variable at the moment which is hard to explain - my meds keep me stable basically. Any "urges" are very limited

I don't know, I think it's helped mine.

Boosted my confidence, getting me out more, meeting new people, always someone to talk to, forums are fun!

Last weekend I had someone get really argumentative when I said a polite no thanks, then he followed that by saying I was a f***ing slut anyway. Normally I don’t let it bother me but I was obviously feeling a bit sensitive and it really upset me. I put a status up saying I wish guys wouldn’t argue when I politely say no and then call me that as well.

I received lots of messages of support from people who I’ve never had any interaction with before - which was really lovely.

So whilst the first bit was bad for my mental health the lovely members of the fab community were incredibly good at making me feel better.

I think it is only bad if people join with low confidence already or fragile confidence. Otherwise I see no other problem with it on mental health.
