….Knowing you’re right.

Happiness, is knowing someone else is wrong

(So said Bill Bailey)

What makes you content?

What makes you happy?

Since meeting Sir I've discovered a contentment I never previously knew existed. I feel settled.

For me it's feeling safe, cared for, loved. It's knowing you always have a cheerleader and someone to turn to.

Feeling secure in my home with my little family around me and seeing friends after covid lockdowns etc has helped too.

I may not have much but what I have I cherish and hold dear and receive contentment in doing so.

Content- a nice strong cup of tea and something nice to go with it, Almond croissant for example.

Happy- ten minutes peace and quiet to enjoy said tea and treat.

Things that make me content? I'm not sure. I generally am. I have a loving partner, I'm happy with where I am in terms of work and I don't really want for anything.

What makes me happy? Spending time with loved ones and friends. Many many orgasms. Snuggles. Dorky films. Books. Lots and lots of things make me happy, I'm quite a happy soul.

Removal of negative influences

Leaving my marriage.

Moving to a job that whilst the pay is sufficient and the work mediocre I can arrange this around our needs as a family.

Life though I have less people in it and far less freedom is simplified.

Accepting this took time…..

Seeing my son - it doesn't happen as often as I'd like and I make sure I savour it as much as I can.

Other than that a simple hug - can be with my son, my dog, anyone. Just one of those where you close your eyes, take a deep breath and forget everything else.

There's plenty of things which make me happy however true contentment has been a myth for a while. But the aforementioned things are getting me there

I’ve genuinely Often read “emotionally abusive marriage” and wondered what that meant to different people. My mate Eric was constantly whinging about his ex and her emotional abuse - it turned out she just didn’t like him very much and didn’t shy away from saying so.

I suspect everyone’s interpretation is different. I’d be curious to hear yours x

It’s not something I’d go into on here tbh, but it was definitely more than whinging and not liking him.

More being ground down until I had no self esteem and confidence left.

For me, happiness is taking my shoes off and wriggling my toes.

Walking everywhere barefoot, like some demented modern day hobbit.

Bliss!

(Thinking on this: can a man get noshed off whilst walking barefoot? Asking for a friend).

Near Marlborough

There’s a feeling I have when my tent is up, the cider is cold and I’m listening to the thud of music in the background. It’s the one time I can not pick up my phone for days. Just dance and smile and listen to great music.

First festival in a few days. Then several more after.

They are part of me and my life and I’ve missed them.

Contentment is snuggling with her ladyship at night - especially the few nano seconds when I'm aware I'm falling asleep and everything shuts down, a bit like the picture on an VDU shrinking to a point when switched off.

Happiness? All sorts of things a good run, topping out after an epic (for me) climb, hearing my first cuckoo in spring, cloud inversions on the mountains, laughter with friends. The list is very long.

Lots and lots of things. Off the top of my head - the look on my pooches face when he climbs on my lap for a snuggle. Having people in my life that are completely on my level and who I know I can depend on. Falling asleep in a certain someones arms, and then waking up next to him. That exhausted, sweaty cuddle after some good sexy time.

All of those things also make me happy...I'm afraid I'm one of those insufferably optimistic people, I always look for the positives in every situation, and find pure joy in the simplest of things
