When i get ill and it dosn't matter what it is, i tend to get mouth ulcers which can can be really painful. I have found that by rubbing toothpaste on them calms them a lot better than products that you can buy over the counter. I have also heard that it is good for spots also, although have not tried that one.

Have any of you got anything in your cupboards that you use for medical reasons instead of buying over the counter?

Toothpaste inflames my mouth ulcers. I use witch hazel for nearly everything so there is always a bottle handy.

I wouldn't advise using the new Colgate with micro beads - it's deadly stuff.

I don't suffer from them myself, but I Googled "home remedy mouth ulcer" and came up with lots of useful info!

Central

Use a bit of Sodium Bicarbonate - baking soda - added to toothpaste, for the cleaning/whitening effect. Also, great for cleaning. Also rinse with Hydrogen peroxide, which is whitening and cleansing.

Sudocreme, mentioned above - always great to have in the house, and useful for spots, rash, itch, sunburn and other stuff.

If I feel the tingle of a cold sore about to appear, I spray some perfume onto my finger and dab my lip with it. Hey presto - the tingling goes and with it, the potential cold sore!
